Milton P. Mintzer
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Milton P. Mintzer, 93, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, November 14, 2016.
Born May 18, 1923, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Julius and Sadie Kurtzer Mintzer. A graduate of Temple University, he served in the US Navy, as a licensed Pharmacist. Milton, along with his brother Charles, owned and operated Mac Finn Drug Co. on Broadway in Saratoga Springs since 1954 until closing a second store on 212 Lake Avenue in 1999. Afterwards, Milton then worked for Hannaford Pharmacy on Weibel Avenue until he was 83. Milt, as he was known to by his friends, was a long-time congregant of Congregation Shaara T’fille and served as President twice and until recently was on the Board as a member of the Ritual Committee. He loved to golf, bowl, play cards with family and friends and savored watching the New York Mets, his favorite team.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Stella Levy Mintzer along with his parents and his brothers, Dr. Joseph Mintzer and Charles Mintzer.
Survivors include his sons Jack (Adena Korusek), Stuart (Carol Moore) and his daughter Eileen Woodcock (Skip); his brother, Sidney Mintzer (June); sister, Pearl Sanders (Harris) as well as three grandchildren, Ryan Mintzer Woodcock, Eugenia Moore, and Jessica McCullen (Nate); three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who he loved to visit with.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November16, 2016, at Congregation Shaara Tfille, 84 Weibel Ave. in Saratoga Springs. Burial followed in the Jewish Community Center Cemetery.
The traditional Shiva Service was held at the family home at 25 MacArthur Dr. beginning Wednesday, November 16, 2016, and following through on Thursday the 17th, Saturday the 19th, as well as Sunday the 21st and Monday the 22nd. All services are at 7:30 p.m.
