Help the Backstretch Workers B.E.S.T. is Backstretch Employees Service Team, a nonprofit organization that serves the physical and social welfare needs of the backstretch workers at the Saratoga Race Track. There are workers at the track until Nov. 15 and the free store on the track supplements bedding, clothing, etc., to these workers. As the cold weather has set in, the store needs blankets, men’s warm jackets, hats, gloves, long underwear, work shoes and boots to help finish the season.…
Rock the House Benefit Concert A benefit for Doug and Eddie Rock will be held at Trick Shot Billiards & Sports Pub (1602 Route 9, Clifton Park) on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1-6 p.m.. On Tuesday, February 18, Brownie Troop 3126 made a large donation of clothing, household wares, games and books to Franklin Community Center to assist local children and families in need. Troop 3126 is a dedicated group of 2nd graders at Division Street Elementary School who are striving to make a difference in the community. On Sunday, July 28, the Saratoga Springs Police Department Investigation Division, Albany Division of the FBI and the New York State Police CNET, conducted an undercover operation in conjunction with the FBI National “Operation Cross Country” detail. The primary goal of “Operation Cross Country” is to rescue juvenile victims from child prostitution. This year, “Operation Cross Country” resulted in 105 children being rescued from sex trafficking in 76 cities across the United States.
