SARATOGA SPRINGS — A head-on collision on Route 50/Ballston Avenue on Friday, June 7 resulted in three people suffering injuries that required medical care.
Police said their investigation showed that at the time of the accident, a black 2008 Honda Accord, driven by 40-year-old Lucian Dublea of Troy, was headed south on Route 50, drifted off the right side of the road and careened off a guide rail. Following that collision, the Honda traveled left, over the double yellow line, and into the northbound lanes of travel. The Honda then collided head on with a blue 2014 Chevy Cruz that was traveling northbound within its proper lane.
The Chevy was operated by 23-year-old Brittany Chase from Greenfield. Her passenger was 22-year-old April Molina from Saratoga Springs.
All three suffered an array of injuries from the crash, and each was taken to Albany Medical Center and admitted for medical care - Dublea and Chase by medical flight transport, Molina by ambulance.
Police said the initial investigation indicates alcohol involvement on the part of Dublea. He has been cited for misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and Failure to Keep Right. The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are possible.
