Ballston Spa To Discuss Economic Development June 2

BALLSTON SPA — The Village of Ballston Spa’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee will meet twice during the month of June to examine economic considerations regarding the village. The meetings will be held 7 p.m. on the first and fourth Thursdays of the month, June 2 and June 23, at the Saratoga County Office Building at 50 West High St.

The committee will review the data and recommendations set forth in the 2020 Next Wave Communities Economic Development Plan which was undertaken by the Village of Ballston Spa in partnership with the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership, the county’s former economic development entity. There will be an examination of the effects on the local economy from various factors, such as proximity to Saratoga Springs and neighboring townships, parking constraints, home businesses and short-term rental situations and social media influences.

The committee will discuss the roles of the village and other entities as economic coordinators and promoters, improving the downtown experience and climate change effects on demographics and markets. Ultimately, the goal is to consolidate the most essential recommendations into the village’s comprehensive plan.

All meetings are open to the public, who are encouraged to attend either in-person or via Zoom and provide input. Zoom link will be available prior to each meeting at www.villageofballstonspa.org/comprehensive-plan-steering-committee.
