Operation Impact Detail – Phish Concert

SARATOGA SPRINGS — On July 5 through 7, The Saratoga Performing Arts Center hosted three days of concerts featuring the band PHISH. This band has a similar type following as the legendary Grateful Dead had for so many years.

With expected sell-outs all three nights of 25,000 each night, the Saratoga Springs Police Department Narcotics Unit, Criminal Investigation Unit and Patrol Officers teamed with members of the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET) and road Troopers, conducted a three day “Operation Impact” detail to aggressively deal with illegal narcotics that are often associated with these types of events. During the three day event members of the SSPD and NYSP were partnered together in various types of interdiction type details over an eight hour period each day. The proactive and aggressive teamwork from both agencies yielded the following results:

Vehicle and traffic stops: 75; traffic violations: 50; and arrests: 26; the various drugs encountered: LSD, MDMA (ecstasy), mushrooms, hash, ketamine, bath salts, cocaine, heroin and nitrous oxide. The following arrests were made: 

SUNDAY: Larry M. Roberto, 36, of Hall Street, Endwell, unlawfully possessing noxious material, Class B misdemeanor; Warren J. Carlson, 34, Broad Avenue, Binghamton, criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, class c felony, unlawfully possessing noxious material, class b misdemeanor and operation of vehicles with safety seats and belts, violation; Dane V. Carlson, 26, Grand Avenue, Johnson City, unlawfully possessing noxious material, class b misdemeanor; Tammy M. Carlson, 38, Hill Ave, Endicott, criminal possession of controlled substance 5th, class d felony, unlawfully possessing noxious material, class b misdemeanor, operation of vehicles with safety seats and belts, violation; Roberto, D. Carlson, W. Carlson and T. Carlson, were stopped at 3:05 p.m. and found to be in possession of various kinds of illegal narcotics and a Nitrous Oxide tank; Matthew Stirnweiss, 19, Boghollow Road, Wassaic, unlawful possession of marihuana, Violation; Ryan Leclerc, 18, Edwards Road, Cheshire, CT, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation.

SATURDAY: Kyle A. McMurry, 19, Browns Ferry Road, Madison, AL, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, class c felony; Christian A. Pollock, 18, North State Highway 205, Rockwell, TX, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, class c felony; Daniel Cucinotta, 35, Northwest 68th Street, Ocala, FL, criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, class c felony and criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, class b felony—McMurry, Pollock and Cucinotta were stopped on South Broadway at 4:37 p.m. and found to be in possession of various drugs. Based on information obtained at the scene a search warrant was secured for a hotel room in Colonie where more drugs were found; Clayton J. Pizzollo, 35, Mountain View Road, Grey, ME, criminal possession of a controlled substance 4th, class c felony, criminal sale of a controlled substance 5th degree, class d felony, criminal sale of a controlled substance 5th degree, class d felony and criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, class b felony—Pizzollo was arrested at 4:18 p.m.being in possession of and allegedly selling various narcotics; Ashley A. Roche, 22, Loomis Street, Burlington, VT, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor; Kyle Delldonna, 22, Old County Road, Higganum, CT, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation; James W. Hicks, 46, Madison Ave, Albany, criminal sale of a controlled substance 5th degree, class d felony, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor and criminal sale of marihuana in the fifth degree, class b misdemeanor—Hicks was arrested on South Broadway at 2:25 p.m. after having allegedly made a sale of illegal narcotics; Christopher Michael Smith, 23, Corlson Place, Simi Valley, CA, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor; Shira Kate Brown, 24, Turnberry Terrace, Orlando, FL, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor; Benjamin James Jensen, Downing Street, Denver, CO, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor, open container, violation, resisting arrest, class a misdemeanor and fugitive from justice 570.34 cpl, class e felony—Jensen was stopped on South Broadway at 1:52 p.m. and found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. A warrant check on Jensen found that he was a wanted fugitive from Arkansas. Jensen also refused to cooperate when officers were attempting to arrest him; Crystal L. Cigsar, 31, Earle Street, Milford, CT, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marihuana, violation; Matthew MacCarthy, 33, Armington Street, Cranston, RI, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marihuana, violation; Dallas M. Wood, 18, East High Street, Ballston Spa, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation; William J. Gates, 37, North Church Street, Spring City, PA, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marihuana, violation; John J. Wolensky, 49, Layfayette Ave, Prospect Park, PA, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation and criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor; Evan Thomas Reed, 27, Blossom Court, Brunswick, OH, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, class a misdemeanor, unlawful possession of marihuana, violation and operation of vehicles with safety seats and belts, violation.
