Algonquin Set for Major Renovations
SARATOGA SPRINGS — One of the Spa City’s largest Broadway buildings will be undergoing major renovations this summer, bringing its upper floors to code and rebuilding new apartments. The owners of the Algonquin Building have hired Bonacio Construction to renovate the interior of the historic building—it was built in 1892 and designed by architect S. Gifford Slocum.

Saratoga Farmers’ Market Opens Outdoor Season in High Rock Park

SARATOGA SPRINGS – When Saratoga Farmers’ Market re-opens its outdoor market at High Rock Park during the first week of May, it will feature 50 farms and vendors with a wide array of food, plants, and crafts produced in the region. The first market session will be Wednesday, May 1st, with a ribbon-cutting planned for Saturday, May 4th at 9 a.m. The market, which was voted New York State’s “Favorite Farmers’ Market” in both 2011 and 2012, is now marking its 35th anniversary year.
A Quick Burst of Spring
SARATOGA SPRINGS — With warmer weather settling into the area, people took to the streets, parks and even the water in anticipation of feeling the heat of the sun after months of merely flirting with its rays. While a cold front is expected for later this week, temperatures will still be in the mid to high 50s, heralding in the signs of spring, including budding daffodils and tulips, birds chirping and the sounds of children at play outdoors.
Yaddo Named National Historic Landmark
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Yaddo, the nationally famous artists’ retreat in Saratoga Springs, has joined an elite list – it has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. While there are over 88,000 properties listed nationwide on the National Historic Register, less than 2,500 are listed as a National Historic Landmark. It joins the ranks of The White House, Carnegie Hall and the Empire State Building.
