December 31, 2022 – January 6, 2023

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office 

Members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Isaiah J. Whitehurst, after the Narcotics Unit and Special Operations Team executed a search warrant on Second Street in Gansevoort. The arrest is a result of a lengthy investigation into the alleged drug trafficking and drug use and continuous complaints of drug activity occurring at the residence.

Whitehurst, 40, of Brooklyn, is currently on parole for attempted murder. As a result of the investigation & search warrant; scales, packaging material, large quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine, multiple cell phones, pills and U.S. currency were seized. 

On Dec. 13, members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Danielle N. Reynolds, 43, of Brooklyn, who turned herself in after an arrest warrant was issued because of the pending charges resulting from the search warrant. 

Whitehurst and Reynolds were each charged with one felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first-degree, one felony count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree, and one misdemeanor count of criminally using drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified that a vehicle reported stolen from the town of Colonie was traveling north on U.S. Route 9 into the town of Halfmoon. Sheriff’s patrols in the area located the vehicle on U.S. Route 9 shortly after the call was broadcast and stopped it in the vicinity of Route 9 and New York State Route 146. As a result of the investigation, Zachary B. Barry, 33, of Stillwater, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third-degree, and 3 counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree. 

Saratoga Springs Police Dept.

A 28-year-old man was charged on Jan. 2 in connection with a New Year’s Day stabbing suspected to have taken place at an apartment complex off of Seward Street in Saratoga Springs. At approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday Jan. 1, city Police responded to a 911 Emergency call reporting someone was stabbed. Officers were able to locate a 26-year-old woman with a knife wound to her leg, as well as a man suspected of the action, in the apartment. The victim was transported to Saratoga Hospital for treatment of the wound and was released after receiving care. The suspect, Damon Beckerman, was charged with two felony counts criminal possession of a weapon, and aggravated criminal contempt; single felony counts of assault, unlawful imprisonment, and aggravated family offense; two misdemeanor counts of menacing, and one misdemeanor count of assault. Beckerman was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and sent to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff in lieu of $40,000 cash bail, $80,000 bond, or $300,000 partially secured bond.

Nathan Lynn, 28, of Middle Grove, was charged with DWI, refusal to take a breath test, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. 

Edward Ody, 56, of Ballston Spa, was charged with DWI, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. 

NY State Police

State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Enforcement Detail in Saratoga County in late December. During the initiative 16 businesses were checked for compliance. Three people were charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First degree, a class “A” misdemeanor, after selling alcohol to persons under the age of 21. The following businesses were NOT in compliance under the New York Beverage Control Law Section 65, Prohibited Sale to Person Under the Age of 21: East Side Wine & Spirits, 11 Maple Dell, Saratoga Springs.  Jones & 50 Wine and Spirits, 4208 NY-50, Saratoga Springs. Friendly Spirits Wines & Liquors, 1346 US-9, South Glens Falls. 

The following establishments are recognized for their compliance: Stewart’s Shops, 227 Ballard Rd, Wilton; Simplee Wine and Spirits, 654 Saratoga Rd, Wilton; Stewart’s Shops, 335 Northern Pines, Wilton; Minogue’s Beverage Center, 624 Maple Ave, Wilton; Cumberland Farms, 571 Maple Ave, Wilton; Saratoga Wine and Liquor, Maple Ave, Wilton; Stewart’s Shops, 3 Maple Dell, Saratoga Springs; Mobil, State Route 9, Saratoga Springs;  A Plus Mini Market, 3009 NY-50, Saratoga Springs; Target, 3031 NY-50, Wilton; Mobil, NY-50, Wilton; Walgreens, 3020 NY-50, Saratoga Springs; Stewart’s Shops, 4208 NY-50, Saratoga Springs.

During these investigations, Businesses are checked utilizing a Trooper in plainclothes, and one or several underage operatives who cannot lie about their age or provide a false date of birth.

December 17 – December 23, 2022

Saratoga County Court

Jordan M. Garafalo, 39, of Saratoga Springs, was sentenced Dec. 8 to 3 years incarceration and 3 years post-release supervision, after pleading to assault in the second-degree, in connection with an incident that resulted in the death of a man following an August 2021 assault in Saratoga Springs. 

Michael L. Girard, 33, of Clifton Park, was sentenced Dec. 7 to 9 years incarceration and 25 years post-release supervision, on each count, after pleading to two counts criminal sexual act in the first-degree, a felony. Date of charges: October 2021, in Clifton Park. 

Eugene F. Wachtel, 55, of Scotia, pleaded Dec. 7 to felony attempted burglary, first charged October 2021 in Wilton. Sentencing Feb. 8. 

Bruce L. Larrabee, 25, of Ballston Spa, pleaded Dec. 7 to felony assault, first charged in June. Sentencing Feb. 15. 

Nicholas Lesson, 42, of Stillwater, pleaded Dec. 7 to felony burglary, first charged in February. Sentencing Jan. 19. 

Kwaku A. Ofosu, 23, of Cohoes, was sentenced Dec. 6 to 5 years probation, after pleading to reckless endangerment in the first-degree, first charged in April in Mechanicville. 

Caren M. Monahan, 31, of Hudson Falls, pleaded Dec. 5 to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth-degree, first charged in Moreau in October.  Sentencing Feb. 7. 

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office 

On Dec. 6, members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and Special Operations Team executed a search warrant at 109 Comstock Road in the town of Corinth. Following a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking within Saratoga County, Thomas A. Allen, 34, Kayla J. Allen, 30, Erica B. Shippee, 36, and Richard S. Simmons, 49, were arrested and are accused of possessing and selling quantities of crack cocaine. Shippee is also a NYS parolee. Kayla Allen is currently on probation for a drug related offense, and Thomas Allen was out on bail pending sentencing for prior narcotics sales. As a result of the investigation and search warrant, scales, packaging material, and quantities of crack cocaine were seized. Each has been charged with several felonies and misdemeanors in connection with the incident. 

After a lengthy investigation into numerous package thefts from Thimbleberry Drive in the town of Malta on Nov. 28, the Sheriff’s Office charged Sarah F. Micheli, 30, of Malta, with one count of felony grand larceny and 13 counts of misdemeanor petit larceny.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter on Dec. 3, of a yellow Labrador retriever that had been turned in to them under suspicious circumstances. The animal was extremely malnourished and had other signs of neglect as well. Investigation into the complaint led to the following Dec. 10 arrests of a Milton couple for torturing or injuring animals – failure to provide sustenance, under New York State Agriculture and Markets Law: Rebecca L. Been, 31, and Justin C. Condon, 28. Both were released on appearance tickets returnable to the Milton Town Court on a later date. The animal is in the custody of the Saratoga County Animal Shelter and is expected to make a full recovery.

Saratoga Police

Ashley Racine, 36, of Glens Falls, was charged Dec. 11 with DWI, aggravated DWI, and criminal possession of a controlled substance. 

Brenda Parker, 25, of Cohoes, was charged Dec. 11 with DWI, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation, and vehicle equipment violation.

Connor Young, 29, of Ballston Lake, was charged Dec. 11 with DWI, aggravated DWI, and failure to keep right. 

Kenneth Hughes, 37, of Saratoga Springs, was charged with petit larceny, and criminal trespass. 

Samantha Silvanic, 27, of Gansevoort, was charged Dec. 10 with DWI, and driving the wrong direction on a one-way street. 

James Lefebvre, 43, of Stillwater, was charged Dec. 7 with petit larceny. 

Kevin Kelly, 42, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Dec. 6 with criminal possession of a controlled substance. 

Jeffrey Hughes, 52, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Dec. 6 with DWI, aggravated DWI, and following too close. 

Nathan Shreve, 42, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Dec. 6 with criminal contempt, and aggravated family offense. 

Charles O’Brien, 40, of Corinth, was charged Dec. 6 with DWI, aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, and multiple driving-related violations.

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office

Maurice M. Trichilo, 33, of Albany, and Dwayne J. Cooper, 35, of Troy, were each charged Nov. 18 with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, following a narcotics operation in the Town of Ballston. They are accused of possessing a large quantity of cocaine following a vehicle stop and roadside investigation, where approximately 260 grams of cocaine was seized, according to the county sheriff’s department. 

William E. Bounds, 37, of Malta, was charged Nov. 30 with the failure to change address within 10 days as a sex offender. 

On Nov. 23, members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested Caitlin Pruess after a lengthy investigation of drug trafficking within Saratoga County. Pruess is accused of possessing and selling quantities of crack/cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine throughout Saratoga County. A search warrant was executed by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Team, Narcotics Unit, and South Glens Falls Police Department in the Village of South Glens Falls. Multiple subjects were located within the residence and were additionally charged. Caitlin M. Pruess, 30, of South Glens Falls, was charged with multiple felony and misdemeanors related to criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance, in addition to one count criminally using drug paraphernalia. Multiple counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance were also charged to: Zachary E. King, 33, of South Glens Falls, Brendan J. Pulica, 38, of Warrensburg, Bobbie J. Demgerd, 42, of Glens Falls, Patricia P. Sexton, 37, of Glens Falls, Rachel M. Cenate, 32, of Hudson Falls, and Auriel B. Daab, 30, of Warrensburg. 

NY State Police

On Nov. 22, at about 11:18 p.m., State Police of Wilton responded to a crash in the parking lot of Fitzgeralds Steakhouse in Moreau. The investigation determined a vehicle driven by Shawn F. Van Vranken, 25, of Glens Falls, struck a parked car while attempting to leave the location. Van Vranken was charged with DWI and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.18% BAC.

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Dept.

Brian C. MacDonald, 32, of Waterford, was charged Nov. 16 with criminal contempt – a misdemeanor, and aggravated family offense – a felony. He is accused of  making contact via telephone while an inmate in Saratoga County Jail with a protected person from a duly served Order of Protection.

Vincent E. Curtis, 23, of Milton, was sentenced Nov. 10 to 2 years’ incarceration, and 1-year post-release supervision, after pleading to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. 

Arthur J. Martin, 43, of Ballston Spa, was sentenced Nov. 10 to 2 years’ incarceration, and 1-year post-release supervisions, after pleading to attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Robert Felice, 53, of South Glens Falls, was sentenced Nov. 10 to 1-1/3 to 4 years’ incarceration after pleading to felony burglary; first charged July 2021 in Northumberland; 1 to 3 years’ incarceration after pleading to criminal possession of stolen property first charged in Nov 2021 in Moreau, and 1-3 years after pleading to felony grand larceny, first charged June 2022 in Moreau.

Michael Vinciguerra, 30, of Malta, pleaded Nov. 7 to felony identity theft. Sentencing Jan. 9. 

Renee L. Passino, 35, of Ballston Spa, was sentenced Nov. 7 to 3-1/2 years incarceration, and 3 years post-release supervision, after pleading to criminal possession of a controlled substance, first charged April 2022 in Saratoga Springs.

November 12 – November 18, 2022

Saratoga County Court

Glen R. Massoth, 34, of Albany, was sentenced to time served and 5 years probation, after pleading to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance in Saratoga Springs, January 2021. 

Anthony J. Paradise, 44, of Coxsackie, pleaded Nov. 2 to felony arson, related to 2017 charges in the town of Ballston, and in Ballston Spa. Sentencing Jan. 25. 

Troy D. Cassell, Jr., 39, of Schuylerville, was sentenced Nov. 3 to 1-1/3 to 4 years in a state correctional facility after his conviction by a Saratoga County Jury on the charges of DWAI, aggravated DWI with child, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and endangering the welfare of a child. The convictions resulted from an arrest following a September 2021 motor vehicle crash on Route 29 in the town of Saratoga. A six-year-old child who was in the back seat during the time of the crash was treated by EMS and released to relatives. 

Erika T. Brown, 43, of Manhattan, pleaded Nov. 3 to criminal possession of a controlled substance, in Moreau. Sentencing Feb. 9. 

George L. Howard, 43, of Malta, was sentenced Nov. 3 to a 3-year conditional discharge, after pleading to felony DWI. 

James D. Reed, 39, of Schenectady, was sentenced Nov. 3 to 2 to 4 years incarceration, after pleading to attempted burglary in the third-degree, a felony, first charged in Wilton March 2021. 

Saratoga Springs Police

Two men were charged with multiple felonies in connection with the suspected theft of two dozen catalytic converters, after Saratoga Springs Police conducted a stop of a suspicious vehicle on Oct. 29. Police said it was discovered that the Virginia license plates on the vehicle did not match the 1991 Chevy van that had been stopped. Officers at that time also observed what appeared to be a catalytic converter on the floor of the van. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that a hotel room and a separate vehicle were also involved, and search warrants were obtained and executed at a local hotel, as well as a on an additional suspect vehicle. Located in the hotel room were an additional 14 stolen catalytic converters, and 5 additional in the vehicle. A total of 24 stolen catalytic converters were recovered during the investigation.

Trever Murphy, 42, of North Carolina was charged with: criminal possession of stolen property, grand larceny, and criminal mischief – all felonies. Murphy is on Federal Probation at this time, according to police. Murphy was remanded to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff without bond.

Joshua Michael McIntosh, 41, of Virginia, was charged with: felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools - a misdemeanor. McIntosh was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and remanded to the custody of the Saratoga County Sheriff with $250,000 cash bail/ $500,000 bond/ $2.5 Million secured bond. 

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office

On Nov. 3, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office charged Eric J. Mcintosh, 32, of South Glens Falls, on a warrant for robbery in the first-degree and grand larceny in the third-degree, both felonies. It is alleged that on June 3, 2021, Mcintosh entered the Rite Aid store located at 3027 Route 50 in the town of Wilton, committed an armed robbery with a knife and stole more than $3,000 worth of prescription medication from the pharmacy. He has since been incarcerated with New York State Department of Corrections on another matter. McIntosh was arraigned and processed and turned back over to New York State DOCCS. 

On Nov. 3, Elijah J. Taylor, 21, of Greenfield, was charged with two counts criminal possession of a weapon, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail/ $10,000 bond.

Jonathan E. Volland, 39, of Waterford, pleaded Oct. 27 to criminal possession of a weapon in the third-degree, and criminal contempt in the first-degree, in connection with separate incidents in Waterford, and Milton. Sentencing Jan. 12.

Andrew L. Lavalley, 39, was sentenced Oct. 28 to 1 to 3 years’ incarceration, after pleading to felony grand larceny, in Wilton. 

Jason Anhorn, 36, of Saratoga Springs, was sentenced to 6 years’ incarceration and 5 years’ probation after pleading to felony burglary, and 2 to 4 years’ incarceration after pleading to aggravated criminal contempt. The sentences will run concurrently.

Jason A. Henderson, 52, of Ballston Spa, was charged Oct. 20 with felony grand larceny, and felony identity theft. Henderson was charged after a lengthy investigation into a fraud complaint that revealed he allegedly made several charges, over a period of 3 years, on an elderly, female complainant’s credit card without her permission, totaling $18,585, according to the county sheriff’s office. 

Rondene J. Brust, 53, one count, and Bryan M. Brust, 32, two counts, were both charged Oct. 18 with promoting prison contraband in the first-degree. According to the county sheriff’s office, on Oct. 11 Rondene Brust was accused of introducing a controlled substance into the Saratoga County Correctional Facility and passing the dangerous contraband to inmate Bryan Brust, during an inmate visit.

Simone Gianfrancesco, 35, of Sherman Oaks, CA, was charged Oct. 18 with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unsafe turn or failure to give appropriate signal.

Connor Smith, 28, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Oct. 17 with criminal mischief. 

Elena Smith, 23, of Saratoga Springs, was charged Oct. 17 with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Darien Bigelow, 22, of Ballston Lake, was charged Oct. 16 with obstruct governmental administration, and coercion. 

Edward Richardson, 39, of Schenectady, was charged Oct. 15 with petit larceny, and intent to obtain transportation without paying. 

Nicole Cappello, 48, of Albany, was charged Oct. 15 with possession of controlled substance in non-original container, unsafe turn or failure to give appropriate signal, improper right turn at intersection, motor vehicle license violation: no license, and criminal possession of controlled substance.

October 22 – October 28, 2022

Saratoga County Court

Devin Hayes, 25, of Gansevoort, was sentenced Oct. 19 to 1-1/2 to 3 years incarceration, after pleading to aggravated family offense in Moreau. 

Leroy F. Buttles, 47, of Gansevoort, pleaded Oct. 19 to felony grand larceny, in connection with charged from November 2020 and February 2021 in Wilton. Sentencing Dec. 8. 

William L. Kelone, 19, of Schenectady, was charged Oct. 13 with burglary, and grand larceny – both felonies. Kelone is accused of stealing two dirt bikes from a building he entered unlawfully in the Town of Ballston on Oct. 10

Troy M. Tenace, 33, of Ballston, was convicted by trial jury on Oct. 17 of three counts felony assault and one misdemeanor count criminal obstruction of breathing. According to a statement released by the county District Attorney’s Office, Tenace obstructed the breathing of a person known to him in the town of Ballston on Sept. 24, 2021 and proceeded to assault the victim’s family member who attempted to come to their aid. The second victim suffered multiple serious physical injuries. Sentencing is Dec. 6. 

Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office 

Robert E. Brown III, 43, of Wildwood, NJ, was charged Oct. 18 with two felony counts burglary. It is alleged that Brown illegally entered a dwelling in April of 2021 and a storage unit belonging to the same victim in June 2021 to commit larceny. Both locations are in the Town of Malta. Brown was being held at the Saratoga County Jail on separate charges from the New York State Police when he was arrested on these complaints. 

Jayden K. Buckmaster, 18, of Galway, was charged Oct. 18 with rape in the first-degree and possessing a sexual performance by a child on the suspicion of a sexual assault against a minor. Buckmaster is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with an 11- year-old child. Both charges are felonies. Buckmaster was sent to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 Cash Bail / $50,000 Bond.

Steven A. Dunn, 34, of Princetown, NY, was charged Oct. 18 with criminal trespass (misdemeanor) and assault (felony). The alleged incident occurred in Halfmoon, and the assault charge is based on the accusation that an off-duty New York State Trooper suffered physical injury when Dunn attempted to flee. Dunn was sent to Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, or $10,000 bond.

NY State Police

On Oct. 16, State Police charged Jackson K. Amankrah, 25, of Halfmoon, with aggravated DWI, and multiple violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Laws. At about 3:49 a.m., Troopers responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash on I-87 in the town of Colonie. The investigation determined that Amankrah was operating a vehicle southbound on I-87 in the northbound lanes and struck a northbound tractor-trailer head-on. No one was injured in the crash. Amankrah was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.19% BAC.

On Oct. 15, State Police of Clifton Park charged Corrine M. Bentley, 38, of Halfmoon, with petit larceny and trespass, after Troopers received a complaint that a woman was found going through items inside a parked vehicle at a residence in Halfmoon. The investigation determined Bentley entered the vehicle without permission and took items.

On October 13, 2022, State Police of Wilton charged Jeffrey R. Nadeau, 37, of Hadley, with two counts of DWI and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. On October 13, at about 9:16 a.m., Troopers responded to Wilton Mountain Road in Corinth, for reports of a pickup off the roadway. Nadeau was allegedly located in the vehicle’s driver’s seat, which had struck a utility pole. He was charged with DWI and transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.17% BAC. Nadeau was issued tickets returnable to the Corinth Town Court and released to a sober party. On Oct. 13 at about 4:36 p.m., Troopers responded to Gailor Road in Wilton, for the reports of an SUV partially in the road with the operator slumped behind the wheel. Troopers arrived and located Nadeau asleep in the driver seat of the running vehicle. He was arrested for DWI and transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.13% BAC. Nadeau was issued tickets returnable to the Wilton Town Court and released to a sober party.
