BALLSTON SPA — Jane H. Gomez, 64, of Ballston Spa, passed away Sunday, September 22 at her home.
Born in Mineola, on February 13, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Teresa Hyer. Jane was a homemaker.
She was an active communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa. Jane started the prayer shawl ministry at the church and crocheted hundreds of shawls. She was recognized by Bishop Howard Hubbard for her efforts.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband, Robert; son, Patrick O’Brien of Camp, Arkansas; grandchildren, Thomas, Colin and Rose; brother and his spouse, Raymond Hyer (Kathleen) of Tampa, Florida; sisters and their spouses, Therese Reich (Heio) of Tampa, Mary Claire Shuman (Barry) of Tampa, Kathryn Hyer (James Soley) of Tampa; and Marlena Kern (John) of Manhasset; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9:30am Thursday, September 26 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will be at 12 noon Friday, September 27 at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 25 from 5-8 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa.
