SARATOGA SPRINGS — Colleen M. (Dwyer) Gradwell, 63, of Saratoga Springs, passed away Friday, September 20.
Born in Troy, May 20, 1950, she was the daughter of Eleanor (Cote) Dwyer and the late Edward Dwyer. Colleen worked for the NYS Comptroller’s Office for 26 years, retiring from the Unclaimed Funds Division in 2005.
Colleen was very active in civic and charitable organizations. She served as vice president of the Saratoga Springs Fraternal Order of Eagles and secretary of American Legion Post 234 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a life member of VFW Post 358 Ladies Auxiliary, and member of Ballston Spa Elks Lodge 2619, ITAM and Principessa Elena Society Auxiliary. Colleen also served as secretary of the Ballston Spa Memorial Day Parade Committee.
She was predeceased by her father Edward Dwyer. Colleen is survived by her husband Edward J. Gradwell; her mother, Eleanor (Cote) Dwyer; her children, Melanie Massie of Ballston Spa, Jennifer Bear of Rotterdam, Edward R. Gradwell of Newport News, Virginia and Thomas Gradwell of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren, Jessica Koscielniak, Kayla Countermine, Ashley Gradwell, Deanna Gradwell, Brandon Countermine and Justin Gradwell; great grandson, Mason Koscielniak; brothers, Timothy Dwyer (Woon Yee Chau) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Colin Dwyer of New York City, Terry Dwyer of Waterford, Edward Dwyer of Saratoga Springs, sister Claudell Galea (Anthony) of Hudson, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
