Saratoga Springs, NY - Evelyn T. “Evie” Morine, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the age of 85, while residing at Wesley Health Care Center.
Born on April 2, 1926, in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Lena Roughton Corey. At an early age she worked in NYC in the garment district as an assistant buyer. During World War II, Evie worked at the Watervliet Arsenal then worked for the Department of Navy in Washington D.C. While living in Lansingburgh, NY, she was a police matron for the Troy Police Department and a corrections officer for the Rensselaer County Jail. She lived in Lansingburgh, NY, for 35 years prior to moving to Saratoga Springs where she lived with her loving and devoted daughter Lisa who cared for her.
In addition to her parents, Evie is predeceased by her late husband, Charles F. Morine of Lansingburgh.
Survivors include her three children, Michael Morine of Gansevoort, Daniel Morine of Latham and Lisa Morine of Saratoga Springs; three grandchildren, Christopher Morine and Erin Morine both of Clifton Park and Amanda Morine of Gansevoort; and two brothers, Nelson and John Corey.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in the chapel at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Colonie, NY. Burial will follow in the family plot.
