Middle Grove, NY –Patricia “Patty” Murphy Gould, 68, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, after a long bout with Alzheimer’s.
Patty was born April 21, 1943, in Livingston, NJ, the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Murphy and Vita Cordova. She was a graduate of Livingston High School and worked at Bell Laboratories in Whippany, NJ, as an administrative clerk. After a couple years, she left to pursue what she loved: the roll of full-time mom, homemaker and loving spouse. Her family was everything to her, and she considered nurturing and caring for them to be the most important things in her life.
Her enthusiasm for living was always evident. She was an aerobic dance instructor, a wonderful swimmer, an avid gardener and outstanding cook. She loved the outdoors and animals, in particular birds, rabbits and of course, her dog Storm. Travelling throughout the New England states was a favorite treat and one she relished.
Patty loved people and enjoyed making others happy. Her warm, outgoing personality, radiant smile and sense of humor would win you over quickly. She was always there to build someone up and put them at ease in her company. All of this was put to good use as a Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph’s Church in Greenfield Center and as a visitor to hospitals, nursing homes and the homebound.
Patty is survived by her husband of 49 years, Thomas Gould; children, Lauren M. Gould and Scott (Crisann) Gould; sister, Jo-ann Norris; grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Gould; sister-in-law Nancy Sher; brother-in-law William (Charlene) Gould; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Earl Zimmerman and Elizabeth Smith-Boivin of the Alzheimer’s Center at the Albany Medical Center, Saratoga Hospice, caregivers, friends and wonderful neighbors for their assistance and support.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 3159 Route 9N, Greenfield Center.
Burial will be in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave.
Donations in Patty’s memory may be sent to The Alzheimer’s Center of Albany Medical, 47 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
