Ballston Spa, NY – William R. “Bill” Morkam passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012.
Born July 2, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Arthur and Martha (Sloan) Morkam. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Bill graduated from Michigan State University and taught special education for 31 years. Once retired from teaching, he worked at ACO Hardware in Lansing, Mich., for 15 years. Bill was a parishioner of Christ Episcopal Church and member of the Elks, Masons, Shriners, Moose and American Legion. He loved golf and the NY Yankees.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Ellen Morkam, and his close friend, Marilyn Roy.
Survivors include his son, Andrew and granddaughter, Christina Morkam; several cousins and many close friends.
Bill will remain forever in the hearts of his extended families of Marilyn Roy and Etta Wolhferd of Colonie, NY.
There will be no public calling hours.
A memorial service was held at Thursday, June 14, 2012.
Burial with military honors will be at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
