Mechanicville, NY – Mary E. Bove passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at her home. She was 85.
Born on June 19, 1927 in Mechanicville, Mary was a lifelong resident and daughter of the late Matthew and Elizabeth Mohan Mellon. She attended Mechanicville High School, graduating in 1945. Married for 53 years to her loving husband Frank G. Bove, Mary worked by his side for over 55 years and was known as the true “Matriarch” of G.A. Bove & Sons Fuels. She loved to cook for her family and friends, as only she knew how, and would always make sure that the “boys” in the shop had a sandwich and hot soup to fill their bellies. Mary loved her community. She was a longtime member and served on the board of directors for the Mechanicville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Mechanicville Community Center, the Feast of the Assumption Committee, was a founding member and treasurer of the Mechanicville Family Day Committee and was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Parish. Mary and Frank loved to take long Sunday drives with Anthony and Jan Sylvester that would take them to wherever the road might bring them, sometimes stopping at the Saratoga Casino to try her luck. Mary had that way about her to make whoever she was with or talking to, feel like you were the most special person in the world. She was the true meaning of unconditional love and friendship to all.
In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her son, James G. Bove and her four brothers, Michael, Matthew, Charles and James Mellon.
Mary is survived by her husband Frank G. Bove; one son, Frank A. Bove; her sister, Patricia Mellon; one grandson, Anthony James Bove; one granddaughter, Alanna Curcio; daughter-in-law, Donna Bove-Curcio; brother-in-laws, Vincent Bove and his wife Barbara, John Bove and his wife Donna and many nieces, nephews and friends.
