Congratulations to Beverly Lazar Davis, founder of Youth2: Youth Helping Youth and her young members who hosted the Walk for Ukraine fundraiser. What a remarkable example of living the mission of Youth2—to provide opportunities to our youth to improve the lives of people in our community and around the world.
As I walked about their recent event in Congress Park, it was clear that the young people were engaged in service beyond themselves—a founding principle of the organization. Beverly calls this action ‘transforming gracefully’ during the formative years. Since her launch of Youth2 in 2003, she has guided many young people through this transformation, providing countless opportunities to think about, discuss and create community service projects that turn simple and complex ideas into action. Each activity, in turn, translates to belief in one’s own ability to effect positive change. The Walk for Ukraine is one of the best examples of this. Without a doubt, it was an expression of kindness as well as a demonstration of the power of service to others. Bravo to everyone who made this happen!
