Letter to the Editor:
Saratoga Springs is not only a beautiful place to live but, more importantly, it is a community of people who care about one and other. Every member of our community has value. As the seasons are changing and the weather is getting colder I have been thinking about the people in our community who are homeless. I think about what we can do to help them. Thankfully, there are programs and wonderful people within our community who advocate for our homeless. One person who I think deserves recognition is Mayor Joanne Yepsen. She created “Code Blue,” which houses homeless residents on dangerously cold nights. Mayor Yepsen also identified every homeless veteran in the city and she found them permanent housing. Mayor Yepsen also co-founded Guardian House, the first ever women veterans’ homeless shelter. These are wonderful programs created and supported by our mayor and I would encourage everyone to support them as well.
