Annual Garage & Bake Sale
The Galway United Methodist Church will hold its Annual Garage and Bake Sale on Friday, August 9 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, August 10 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. The sale is a multi-family sale that includes clothing, furniture, sporting goods, toys, tools, household items, collectibles, electronics, books, baby items and much more. The sale is held indoors come rain or shine. A bake sale will be held at the same time. The public is welcome. The church is located at the corner of Rte. 147 and CR 45 in the Village of Galway.
Malta Family Night Movie in the Park
The Town of Malta Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Malta Family Night Movie in the Park on Friday, August 9 with a showing of the final installment of the Train Your Dragon trilogy: How to Train Your Dragon, The Hidden World at the Shenantaha Creek Park off Eastline Rd. in Malta. The movie is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Bring a blanket or chair, a flashlight, snacks and bug repellent. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Saratoga Pinball and Arcade Show
Visit the Saratoga Pinball and Arcade Show! It will be held at the Saratoga Regional YMCA in Saratoga Springs, on Friday August 9 from 2 – 10 p.m. and Saturday August 10 from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. The show will feature approximately 50 pinball machines and arcade games from the past and present, all set on free play. For one admission price of $10, you are welcome to stay all day and play as much as you like for no additional cost. Many of the games available to play will also be for sale. The show will also feature an indoor flea market with various pinball and arcade games, spare parts, and collectibles for sale. There will be a beginner friendly “PinGolf” pinball tournament open to all ages. New this year, there will be a special exhibit featuring film memorabilia on display and for sale, including several original costumes and props from various movies and TV shows. 155th Baker Family Reunion
The 155th Annual gathering of the descendants of James Baker will be held Saturday, August 10 at the Malta Community Park located on Plains Rd. County Route 108 in Malta, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This year, Baker Family Historian Maria Carr is looking for more stories about the women of the Baker Family. Strong, active Baker women can certainly be traced back to the family’s Quaker roots, and beyond. Throughout the year, Maria publishes a monthly historical piece on Bakers throughout the centuries. Called the “Baker ‘Did You Know?’ Fact,” it can be found on The Baker Family Reunion Facebook page. Maria wants to expand her fascinating vignettes of Baker history to ensure a more complete record for the centuries to come. Have a Baker story to share—especially about Baker women? The Malta Community Park has picnic tables under a pavilion, bathroom facilities, playground equipment, a basketball court, and walking trails. The Health, History, & Horses Charity Gala
Presented by Ladies of Charity, Saratoga Chapter. Summer Night BBQ at the Barn Fundraiser
The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) will host its first annual “Summer Night BBQ at the Barn” fundraiser on Tuesday, August 20, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at The Saratoga Winery, in the newly constructed event barn. The barbeque will feature good old-fashioned BBQ fare; including home smoked BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and locally made pies from Mourningkill Bake Shop. Proceeds from the event will benefit the recent rescues as well as the hundreds of TRF horses in the organization’s national herd. Saratoga County EOC-Head Start currently has pre-k spots available for Fall 2019 in Saratoga Springs. Head Start is free for eligible low-income families and is dedicated to helping children become school ready. Head Start focuses on development, health and well-being. Each Head Start classroom is NYS daycare certified and a NYS licensed teacher will help get your child academically and socially ready for kindergarten. 11th Annual Taste of Malta

10th Annual Nick’s run to be Healed 5 K
Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation (NFTBHF) in conjunction with the Honsinger Family is proud to announce its 10th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5K on Sunday, September 29 at the Clifton Commons in honor of Olivia DeWitt and JP Honsinger, both from Clifton Park. 16-year old JP was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease at age 10. NPC is a rare neuro-degenerative disease that strikes children and is known as childhood Alzheimer’s. 5-year old Olivia was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 3 1/2 years old. She will complete treatment this fall and is entering kindergarten. Olivia is one of 90 children who are diagnosed every year just in our area. The Town of Clifton Park sponsored event includes a Kids’ Run, a 2-mile Walk, a 5K Run, a Zumba warm-up, a Kids’ Carnival, and more! Day of registration starts at 10 a.m. and drifit shirts will be given to those who pre-register by September 6. Pre-registration ends on Wednesday, September 25 and the price is $25 ($30 on the day of event). NFTBHF was started in memory of Nick Cammarata, who passed away in October 2008 from leukemia.
