Run for the Horses 5K
On Saturday, August 31, TRF will host the 10th Annual “Run for the Horses 5K” at the Orenda Pavilion in Saratoga Spa State Park. The 5K Run/Walk is a family- and pet-friendly event with a canine division, a Kids Fun Run, and former racehorses that greet visitors and walk the course. Walkers are especially encouraged to join in the festivities and enjoy a lovely walk through the park accompanied by the retired racehorses. The 5K course is certified, and all proceeds will benefit rescued and retired Thoroughbred racehorses. Check-in at 7 a.m. The Kids Fun Run starts at 8 a.m., and the 5K Race at 8:30 a.m. There will be refreshments, and prizes in all race divisions. There is also a canine division with prizes for dogs finishing in the top 3 spots. Pre-race registration for the event is $25. Race day registration is $30. Annual Senior Picnic
The Saratoga County Office of the Aging Senior Picnic is Thursday, September 5 at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. This year will be a Southern Style Picnic complete with fried chicken, cornbread, coleslaw, mac and cheese, dessert and beverages. There will be music, games and a 50/50 raffle. 10th Annual Car, Truck and Jeep Show
Sunday, September 8, at Curtis Lumber, located at 885 Rt. 67, Ballston Spa, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. All makes of cars, trucks, jeeps, customs, and tuners welcome. One Day Bus Trip

Ghosts in the Yaddo Garden Tours 
Share in the spiritual intrigue from the Native Americans, Edgar Allen Poe, the Trask family and other contemporary visitors! “Ghosts in the Yaddo Garden Tours” will be held on Friday and Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. September 13 through October 27. Tours do not include the mansion. Docent-led tours last one hour and begin at the parking lot, cost is $10/ person. Private docent-led tours may be arranged at a date convenient to your group. Saratoga Chamber Players Golf Fundraiser
To be held on Friday, September 13 at Airway Meadows Golf Course, 262 Brownville Rd., Gansevoort.  Entry fee is $75 per person. Includes greens fee, cart, appetizers and soft drinks. NatureFest
September 14, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (rain date Sunday, September 15) at Moreau Lake State Park. Free family day of interactive nature related activities, live animals, information,  crafts and activities for the kids like birdhouse building, face painting, pumpkin painting and more.  There will be nature related educational booths, representatives from local parks, rescue organizations, wagon rides and music. Food is available as well as a silent auction and tours of the nature center.  All donations will go to The Friends of Moreau Lake (non-profit).  We are working toward being a Zero-Waste event so BYOB (water bottle and bag). 3rd Annual Nick’s Ride to be Healed
100-mile scenic motorcycle ride to the Adirondacks on Saturday, September 21, beginning at 4 Avis Dr., Latham. 14th Annual Angel Names Association Memorial Walk
The walk will be held on Saturday, September 28 at the Saratoga State Spa Park in Saratoga Springs. 10th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5 K
Nick’s Fight to be Healed Foundation in conjunction with the Honsinger Family is proud to announce its 10th Annual Nick’s Run to be Healed 5K on Sunday, September 29 at the Clifton Commons in honor of Olivia DeWitt and JP Honsinger. A Kids’ Run, a 2-mile walk, a 5K Run, a Zumba warm-up, a Kids’ Carnival, and more! NFTBHF was started in memory of Nick Cammarata, who passed away in October 2008 from leukemia. 2nd Annual Dan Provost Memorial Walk 
Dan Provost lived his entire life in Saratoga Springs and passed away in 2014, at age 23, as a result of a drug overdose, after struggling for several years with substance use disorder. The purpose of this Memorial Walk is to remember lives taken too soon, raise awareness of addiction, educate the community about recovery services, and celebrate those living in recovery. On Saturday, October 5 a 1.5-mile family-friendly walk around the Skidmore Campus will take place. Registration, games and activities begin at 10 a.m. walk at 11 a.m. Suggested individual donation of $10 and family donation of $20. Proceeds of this event will benefit area recovery and education programs, Recovery Advocacy in Saratoga (RAIS) and the Healing Springs Recovery Community & Outreach Center. 17th Annual “The Way We Were” Car Show
Held Sunday, October 13 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Front St. in Ballston Spa. Front Street will be blocked off from Milton Avenue past the Old Iron Springs to accommodate car exhibits and vendors. The Malta Department of Parks and Recreation announces the Malta Community Center Arts, Crafts, and Gifts Fair as Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. – 3p.m. Crafters and artisans of handmade items are being sought and vendors of manufactured merchandise will be considered on a juried basis for this lovely event at the Malta Community Center, located at 1 Bayberry Drive in Malta. Tax Assistance Volunteers
TaxAide, the free income tax assistance program sponsored by the AARP Foundation and the IRS, is seeking volunteers for the coming tax season. Volunteers answer questions, prepare and file returns for low to moderate income taxpayers and seniors from February 1 to April 15 at various sites in the Capital District.  Volunteers typically participate one day per week, with flexible schedules to accommodate volunteer availability. No experience required, but computer experience is helpful for tax counseling.  Volunteers who do not wish to prepare returns are also needed to greet taxpayers and confirm appointments. Training is provided for all positions. Volunteers may be reimbursed for a moderate level of necessary travel expenses.   • New York State Police The New York State Police announced that it issued 5,576 tickets during this year’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement initiative. The campaign began on Friday, March 15, and continued until Sunday, March 17. During the campaign, funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, State Police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and underage drinking and sales to minors detail. State Police also ticketed distracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices.
