Foal Patrol’s Newest Addition
SARATOGA SPRINGS —Alpine Sky, a 7-year-old mare owned by Old Tavern Farm, delivered a colt by More Than Ready at 10:56 p.m. on April 15 as part of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol Season 3. This is the fifth foal of the season delivered on Foal Patrol. Both the mare and foal are healthy and doing well.
Foal Patrol is a one-of-a-kind interactive web project. Season 3 features a collection of live cameras where people can view real-time streams of six mares and their foals, as well as the Three Chimneys stallion Gun Runner. The site also features a blog, numerous educational videos and articles, and much more.

Foal Patrol 3: Magical World Delivers a Colt by Gun Runner at Three Chimneys Farm
CHARLOTTE, VT/SARATOGA SPRINGS — Magical World, a 9-year-old mare owned by Three Chimneys Farm, delivered a colt by stallion Gun Runner at 2:20 a.m. on Feb. 25 at Three Chimneys as part of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol Season 3. This is the first foal of the season delivered on Foal Patrol. Both the mare and foal are healthy and doing well.
Magical World, a daughter of Distorted Humor who has already sired Grade 1 winner Guarana and listed winner Magical Dance, delivered her Gun Runner colt 11 days after her expected foaling date of Feb. 14. There are six mares participating in Foal Patrol Season 3. Both New Money Honey (in foal to War Front at Indian Creek Farm) and Hall of Fame member Ashado (in foal to Frosted at Godolphin’s Gainsborough) are due any time. The other mares this season include Vaulcluse (in foal to War Front at Gainesway Farm), Alpine Sky (in foal to More Than Ready at Old Tavern Farm), and Emotional Kitten (in foal to Dialed In at Denali Stud). Gun Runner, the 2017 Horse of the Year, is also a participant this season.

Foal Patrol Surpasses One Million Views: Season 2 Coming in Fall

SARATOGA SPRINGS — National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame has announced Season two of Foal Patrol this fall.
Since Foal Patrol’s debut, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol project has received more than one million views across its various media platforms and was viewed in 37 countries. Season two will debut this fall at www.foalpatrol. com. Announcements regarding the participating farms and mares will be made later this summer.
The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame launched Foal Patrol as a one-of-a-kind collection of live web cameras where people can view real-time streams of several in-foal mares during their pregnancy and through the actual foaling. The website is optimized for viewing across all media platforms, including tablets and smart phones. In addition, the Museum partnered with artist Sharon Crute to develop a Foal Patrol coloring book, which is available in the Museum gift shop.
Foal Patrol currently live streams from eight different farms across the country. Five farms are in Kentucky; two are in New York- one of them being the Old Tavern Farm in Saratoga Springs, and one other in Florida.
The Museum’s partners in developing Foal Patrol include The Jockey Club Technology Services, Keeneland Broadcast Associates, Godolphin Kids, Visit Lex, Horse Country Tours, Equineline.com, The BloodHorse, Equibase, New World Resources and Carr-Hughes Productions.
“The great feedback we have received from Foal Patrol fans and the racing industry has been exceptional,” said Cathy Marino, the director of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
“To have a million views in six months is such a thrill for everyone at the Museum. People have really fallen in love with these mares and foals and this project has been a great educational tool to help people learn about breeding and raising thoroughbreds. We’re really looking forward to continuing Foal Patrol and making it even better with our second season,” she added.
According to Marino, Foal Patrol hopes to expand on the educational aspects of the website.
“We’ll be shortly adding on a lot of educational aspects. We want to talk about anatomy, pedigree, care of the horses, veterinarian care... We are hoping to eventually have this so that teachers can go on here and link to different educational aspects that they can use in the classroom and perhaps develop a curriculum around it,” Marino said.
Looking ahead, Marino hopes to involve other industry-related organizations for the next year.
Sabbatical Delivers First Foal

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s Foal Patrol Project, a livestream initiative where people can view realtime videos of several in-foal mares during their pregnancy and through the actual foaling process. Livestreams are available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with extended hour as the expected foaling date approaches, at
www.foalpatrol.com. At 5:50 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, the first foal was delivered by Sabbatical, a mare owned by Phipps Stable at the historic Claiborne Farm. The foal, which is a bay colt by War Front, arrived earlier than its’ projected due date, which was Jan. 28. Both Sabbatical and the foal are healthy.
“We’re so excited to see the first foal of Foal Patrol. Congratulations to Phipps Stable and everyone at Claiborne Farm,” said director of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, Cathy Marino.
“We are thrilled they agreed to be part of this new initiative of the Museum. One of the Museum’s priorities is to make the sport of thoroughbred racing accessible to as many people as possible and Foal Patrol is a wonderful way for people to get unprecedented insight into the breeding of a racehorse, one of the most essential components of the sport. We’re looking forward to seeing this colt grow and develop on the way to the racetrack,” said Marino.
A contest has been set up on www.foalpatrol.com for name suggestions, the winner will receive a prize package, including a tour of Claiborne Farm. The next mare, Breeder’s Cup Distaff winner Stopchargingmaria, is projected to deliver her foal at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky around Feb. 2.
