Travers Celebration at Canfield Casino

SARATOGA SPRINGS - On Friday, Aug. 25, Prestwick Chase hosted a Travers Celebration Gala at the Canfield Casino in Congress Park. Residents of Prestwick, along with VIPs from the Saratoga region, were invited to attend the night's festivities. Everyone was treated to the Georgie Wonders Orchestra, which performed late into the evening.

Guest Speakers included Charlie Kuenzel and Dave Patterson, co-owners of Saratoga Tours. These two gentlemen have a wealth of knowledge about the history and heritage of Saratoga Springs. There were many forms of entertainment for the guests to take in, including: Cirque Tacular Contortionists, who simply amazed the audience; Chris Wheel and Ryan Bliss Magicians; Bryson Lang Comedy/Juggler; Sandy Menzer, a spiritual intuitive who has worked with Mary Lou Whitney; and Marci, the angel therapy practitioner.

Prestwick Chase's culinary team went all-out for the event. The goal of the Travers Foundation Celebration Menu was to pamper guests with wonderful cuisine combinations not normally seen. Passed hors d'oeuvres included Caprese Skewer with Balsamic Drizzle; Figs stuffed with Goat Cheese, wrapped in Pancetta; Devils and Mermaids on Horseback, Crab Cakes with Red Pepper Remoulade and Clams Casino. The Raw Bar included oysters on the half shell, clams on the half shell and Pink Gulf Shrimp. Pasta Station, a big hit with the crowd, was a choice of Fettuccini, Penne, Prosciutto stuffed Tortelloni with sauces of Marinara, Alfredo, Ala Vodka, and hand Melon Creme. The Carving Station offered Beef Tenderloin with demi glaze and wild mushrooms. Another big treat was a Savory and Sweet Crepes, for which the line seemed never-ending as people watched them being prepared to their taste.

According to John Rowe, the evening was truly magical with many people surprised to learn that all the decorations, even down to the canoe on stage matching the Travers Colors, was done by Prestwick Chase staff. He offered a special thanks to the sponsors: Jon Cupp with Thirsty Owl Wine Company; Posie Peddler for their beautiful flower arrangements; Sysco; Empire Merchants North; and Morgan Linen Service, Inc. He would also thanked the entire wait staff, bar tenders, Prestwick Chase staff and the McNeary family for their constant pursuit of excellence in not only senior independent living but in their desire to promote what is the very best of Saratoga.

(And for all those VIPs who asked at the night's end, "Will this be held next year?" all Rowe can tell you is if you thought this was an amazing night, you can be sure that next year we will sparkle even brighter. So stay tuned.)
