SARATOGA COUNTY — The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 10 a.m. on Feb. 28 at Shenendehowa High School West after receiving a report that a student at the school may be in possession of a weapon.
The initial report had been made by another student to their parent, who in turn contacted the police, and similar reports were made by students directly to the school resource officer who is a Saratoga County sheriff’s deputy. Deputies immediately began investigating the incident and the school was put in a “hold in place.”
Shortly thereafter, the student was located, and an Air Soft BB handgun was secured. At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined that no other threats existed.
The student will be charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds - a violation level offense under New York State Penal Law.
