Vincent Manning Yaeger

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Vincent Manning Yaeger, born Feb. 14, 1924, in Port Chester, NY, and a long-time resident of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.

A veteran of WWII, he served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in the areas of semaphore and navigation and was also selected to train in a new, then-top-secret development called radar.
During a 40-year career at Pitney Bowes, Inc., he worked in several capacities, including electrical engineer and head of their first computer department. Vincent's developments for Pitney Bowes resulted in several patents, including those for postal machines and a computer program used in their postage meters.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, and singing with the chorus of the Senior Men's Association of Stamford, of which he was a founding member.
His marriage to Emma Marie Benevelli lasted for 64 years, until her passing in 2013. They moved to Saratoga Springs in 2006, and Vincent is survived by son, Robert Yaeger; daughters Janice Yaeger and Jackie Pardon (Tod); grandson, Dexter Pardon; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
The family would like to thank the staff of 2 Springs at the Wesley Nursing home for their kind and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vincent's name to the Saratoga County Veteran's Trust Fund, 152 West High St., Ballston Spa, NY 12020. The family also encourages contacting your NYS legislators regarding raising the minimum requirement for patient-care staffing in nursing homes, hospitals, etc.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs. Private burial with military honors will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
