SCHENECTADY — Jayne M. Mickle, 82, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29, at home with her loving family by her side, following a long illness.

She was born Jayne M. Smith on June 10, 1931 in Richfield Springs. She was the daughter of F. Benten and Gertrude Smith. Jayne graduated from Cobleskill High School and married Ronald L. Mickle in July of 1950.

She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed taking care of those she loved. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved the ocean. She enjoyed vacationing in New Hampshire and Maine.

Jane was predeceased by her husband Ronald in 1984, her sisters, Marjorie Murray and Charlotte Logan, her special aunt Audra Ward, her sister-in-law Norma Swiatocha and her niece Diane Logan.

Survivors include her three children: Barbara Hanley of Schenectady, Lorraine Mickle of Schenectady and James Mickle (Jennifer Grant) of Porter Corners. She has five grandchildren: Daniel Lyman (Tanya Olsen), Tammy Lyman (Derrick), and Alyssa (Zack McNamara), Taylor and Avery Mickle. She has seven great-grandchildren: Michael, Codie, Jasmine, Izabel, Mackenzie, Cali and Ryan.

She was the “Special Aunt Jaynie” and was like a grandmother to Christopher, Kyle and Karissa. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, October 4 at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave. in Scotia. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m. before the service.

Jayne loved all animals, especially her dogs, Cassie and Baxter, and her cats, Alfie and Norton. Donations in her memory may be made to The Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave. Scotia, NY 12302.
