28th Annual Saratoga Soroptimist Secret Gardens Tour

A dozen gardens in varying sizes and styles in Saratoga Springs and Wilton are featured 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 9. Purchase $25 advance tickets at www.soroptimistsaratoga.org or at Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga Springs, Cudney’s Cleaners retail locations, and Faddegon’s Nursery in Latham. Day-of tickets for $30 will be sold while supplies last from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the Saratoga Springs Visitor Center, 297 Broadway. Celebration of Summer

The Saratoga Area Retired Educators Association invites all retired Saratoga Area educators, teaching assistants, librarians, and school support staff members to attend our social. This fun event will provide you with the opportunity to mix and mingle with other educators, meet some of our members and learn about the monthly luncheon meetings of our organization. The event will be held at the Parting Glass in Saratoga Springs from 4 -7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12. Homestead: You Are Here – Opening Night

Saratoga Arts, 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 5 – 7 p.m. On July 14, multi-disciplinary artist Yuko Edwards’ on-going series Homestead: You Are Here will be on view in our Atrium Gallery this summer. The series began when the artist was a resident of Saratoga Springs and took solo walks throughout the inner-city. On those walks, Yuko saw reflections of her own family in the landscape, memories from the past as well as possible new futures. Adirondack Greek Festival

The 14th Adirondack Greek Festival will be hosted by St. George Church, 55 Main St., South Glens Falls. On Thursday, July 13 from 4 – 8 p.m., enjoy souvlaki and gyro sandwiches and pasties outside under the tent. Clifton Park Senior Community Center Gallery, 6 Clifton Commons Ct., and SSAS will be hosting an exhibit during the months of June and July featuring the work of artist Frank Coletta. His artwork will include realistic landscape drawings in pen and ink depicting the beauty of the Hudson Valley area and flower drawings in colored pencil and ink. Mr. Coletta is an accomplished artist who has shown nationally and locally. The Mechanicville Library, 190 N. Main Street, will host artist Bill Daisak during June, July, and August. Fish Fry Friday 

Knights of Columbus Council #246, located at 50 Pine Rd., Saratoga Springs, will be hosting Fish Fry Friday on June 30, from 5 – 7 p.m. This event will require advance call-in of orders on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of that week between the hours of noon and 3 p.m. Call 518-584-8547 to place your order or for more information. A set number of orders will be scheduled for pickup at 5 p.m. and at intervals of every 15 minutes thereafter until sold out, so make sure to schedule early. As always, thank you for your support and helping us to continue our good works in the community.

Craft Fair – Vendors Wanted

The Saratoga County History Center is seeking vendors of handmade crafts, antiques, and farm products for the annual craft fair at Brookside Museum on Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  No mass produced or commercially manufactured products will be permitted.  Spaces are available outdoors, with limited spaces available indoors.  The fair is a rain-or-shine event. Free Fishing Days June 25 and 26

Residents and non-residents who are 16 and older* can fish without a freshwater fishing license or recreational marine fishing registration (*Kids under 16 can always fish for free!). The perfect opportunity to try out fishing for the first time, to get back into the sport, or to take a friend or the whole family along to fish! Even though a license is not needed, all other fishing regulations apply. Southern Saratoga Art Society Meeting

The Story Behind Burke Funeral Home

The Saratoga Springs History Museum hosts a program Thursday, June 29, at 7 p.m. on the rich history of Saratoga’s oldest continuously operating funeral home: William J. Burke and Sons, established 1893. Speakers Carol Godette, Mark Phillips and Jacqueline Bunge will discuss Victorian-era mourning and funeral customs, William Burke’s involvement in the embalming of President Grant, and more. New History Exhibit Opening Reception

Opening Reception, Friday, June 9, 5:30 p.m. for the new Saratoga Springs History Museum exhibit “First Saratogians: The Indigenous Peoples of the Saratoga Springs Region,” in partnership with Ndakinna Education Center, examining the history of Native Americans in the local area from prehistoric times through today, using hundreds of artifacts and photographs to tell the story. 10th Annual Beekman Street Art Fair

Sunday June 11, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Beekman Street Art Fair, Saratoga’s ever-popular kick off to summer is celebrating 10 years of bringing artists, neighbors, and visitors together in a festive art and music filled environment. The 2023 fair features artists tents, entertainment coordinated by the Ballston Spa Community Band, culinary venues, and street performers.  And thanks to CDTA, fairgoers can easily get to and from the fair via a free shuttle bus running from the Saratoga Casino to Beekman and Grand Ave. For more information and shuttle bus schedule please visit www.ArtsonBeekman.org

Round Lake House and Garden Tour

On June 10, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. a tour of houses and gardens in Round Lake Village will benefit the historic Round Lake Auditorium. Included are tiny cottages, large Victorian era and brand new custom homes. We are featuring homes that have had recent renovation/construction/restoration projects. The Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival 

The Saratoga Jewish Cultural Festival launches its 11th season this summer with a series of programs by Congregation Beth Shalom of Clifton Park, Congregation Shaara Tfille of Saratoga Springs, Chabad of Saratoga, Chabad of Clifton Park, and Temple Sinai.Offerings to the public will run from June through August and include concerts, plays, lectures, films, discussions, and outdoor family events.  The festival begins June 11 with the Annual Jewish Women’s Gala and concludes August 22 with Klezmer and Kugel. The Ballston Spa Birdhouse Festival

Sunday June 11, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date is June 18. The Ballston Spa Birdhouse Festival is looking for crafters and artist to participate in our Festival. The Birdhouse Festival promises to be a huge event, with over 1000 birdhouses decorating the village of Ballston Spa. It will be a huge draw for people all over the capital region. Flag Day Parade

Join us on Wednesday, June 14 as we celebrate this special day to give thanks to those who have served or sacrificed their lives to protect the land we love and the flag we so proudly display in our homes and communities. The ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. at Saratoga-wilton Elks Lodge #161 on the outside patio.

John Huppuch Memorial Kids Fishing Derby

Artist Exhibit

Clifton Park Senior Community Center Gallery, 6 Clifton Commons Ct., and SSAS will be hosting an exhibit during the months of June and July featuring the work of artist Frank Coletta. BBQ Dinner Take Out

The Saratoga County History Center will hold a drive-thru Miller’s Backyard BBQ dinner on Friday, June 2, from 3 to 6 p.m.  There will be a choice of a half chicken or half pound pulled pork dinner for $15.  We will also be serving a beef brisket dinner for $20 available by pre-order only.  Dinners include a baked potato, coleslaw, and corn bread.  An 8-ounce serving of mac & cheese is also available for $5.  All proceeds will help fund public education and children’s programs at the museum.  The dinner is take-out only.  Meals can be picked up at Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Avenue, Ballston Spa. New History Exhibit Opening Reception

Annual Memorial Day Parade

Please join us on Saturday, May 27. Honor the memory of those U. S. servicemen and servicewomen who have passed away. The parade begins at 9 a.m. across from Carousel Village and continues with a pause for a ceremony at the Kayderosseras Creek bridge then continue along Milton Avenue to Front Street where the parade proceeds to the Civil War Monument, turning onto Low Street to Veterans Park. Hosted by the Village of Ballston Spa, Henry Cornell American Legion Post #234 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #358, the schedule includes the Placing of Wreaths, a rifle salute, Invocation, Memorial Day address. Remarks from Grand Marshal, a reading of the Gettysburg Address, Flag Raising at Veterans Park, TAPS, Closing Benediction, followed by a reception in Wiswall Park.

The League of Women Voters of Saratoga County will be offering Voter Registration tables May 20 and May 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Saratoga Farmers Market, 112 High Rock Park Ave., Saratoga Springs. Residents can learn where to find information about polling places, information about registration, early voting, absentee voting, and pick up absentee voting applications and voter registration forms.

Storytelling (Re)Collected

Saratoga Arts and Ndakinna Education Center have collaborated to create an interdisciplinary exhibition experience in the Dee Sarno Theater that will inspire questions about how history and stories are recorded, and learning about history through all different genres of art affects the way in which we communicate with each other. To accurately reflect the diversity of our regional indigenous cultures, this exhibition includes both historical and contemporary work made with traditional Abenaki methods incorporating sound, language, and storytelling. Opening Night: Thursday, June 1, from 5– 8 p.m.

10th Annual TUFF eNUFF Obstacle Course Challenge

On Saturday, June 3 over 500 kids, teens, and adults will lace up their old running shoes to run, scramble over obstacles, jump muddy puddles, and trudge their way through mucky trenches at The Prevention Council’s 10th Annual TUFF eNUFF, which takes place at the BOCES Center on Henning Road in Saratoga Springs. The Ballston Spa Birdhouse Festival

Sunday June 11, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain date is June 18. The Ballston Spa Birdhouse Festival is looking for crafters and artist to participate in our Festival. The Spring Fling Festival benefits the Adirondack Vets House, Inc by bringing our area’s businesses together to create a day of fun in the sun! Team Billy Ride and Walk for Research

Cerebral Palsy Fundraiser

The Shaken & Stirred Celebrity Bartender Party is an annual fundraiser for Universal Preservation Hall. Local businesses team up to compete against each other, bartending for the most tips. Annual Ballston Lake Clean Up Day

Volunteers are welcome to join in on Saturday, May 6 by showing up at the Ballston Lake Fire Department, on Route 146-A at 8 a.m. to pick up their road assignments. The project involves doing a clean sweep of winter trash on local roadways in the hamlet of Ballston Lake and its environs. The Town of Ballston parks a large truck at the Ballston Lake Fire Department and at the Outlet Road Parking lot for volunteers to deposit their bags when they have finished their assignments. Benefit Auction and Social Evening 

The Friends of the Library are excited to announce an upcoming Benefit Auction and Social Evening on Thursday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ballston Spa Elks Club, 10 Hamilton St. Ballston Spa. Enjoy finger foods, lite fare, and beverages, an all-star line-up of live auction items, raffles and more. Among the items up for auction are a weekend getaway, antique photographs of Ballston Spa, original painting by Stu Eichel, a custom portrait of your home or business by artist Pam Stendardi, fine jewelry and antiques, gift certificates, theme baskets and more. Cerebral Palsy Fundraiser

Come join us Saturday, May 13, from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Saratoga/Wilton Elk’s Lodge.  “Celebrate Mom” with a free carnation to the first 100 Mom’s, donated by Dehn’s Flowers.  We are raising awareness and funds for the Cerebral Palsy Association of NY State.  We have “Amazing Mom” themed raffle baskets and a BBQ buffet. Dinner will include chicken, macaroni salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and cornbread. There will be a cash bar and yummy desserts too.  Dance to the beat of our favorite quartet Betsy and the ByeGons.  Cost is $25 per person.  For reservations call Judy at 518-587-5568 by May 9.  Give MOM a night to remember.  

Shaken & Stirred Celebrity Bartender Party

The Shaken & Stirred Celebrity Bartender Party is an annual fundraiser for Universal Preservation Hall. Local businesses team up to compete against each other, bartending for the most tips. The team that raises the most during their shift wins. This year’s event will be 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at the Saratoga National Golf Course. All proceeds raised go towards our education programs through the Collaborative School of the Arts, which is an incredibly important aspect of arts for youth in our area. Spring Fling Festival

The Spring Fling Festival is benefiting the Adirondack Vets House, Inc by bringing our area’s businesses together to create a day of fun in the sun for everyone! Free admission, open to the public.  There will be pony rides and farm animals, bounce houses, a dunk tank, cornhole tournament, face painting, food trucks, candle making, local vendors, live music, raffle baskets, carnival games and more! The goal is to maximize attendance and support local business all while raising very critical funds for the Adirondack Vets House, Inc.  The Car Shoppe will be hosting the first Annual Spring Fling Festival on Saturday May 20 from Noon – 5 p.m.  Rain date is May 21, noon-5 p.m. The location is 1110 US-9, Queensbury.

The Inaugural Yaddo Golf Invitational 

The Inaugural Yaddo Golf Invitational takes place on May 24 at the Saratoga National Golf Club, with Honorary Chair and special guest, Dottie Pepper. Golfers will enjoy 18-holes of golf plus carts, lunch, fun contests, and admission to the dinner and awards ceremony. Each golfer will receive a signed copy of Dottie Pepper’s book, Letters to a Future Champion: My Time with Mr. Pulver. Space is limited to the first 128 golfers. Reserve your foursome today! Art Exhibit

The Clifton Park Senior Community Center Gallery, 6 Clifton Commons Ct., Clifton Park and SSAS will be hosting an exhibit in the Gallery during the months of April and May featuring seven photographers and members of SSAS. Artists include Cheryl Jenks, Rebecca Jenkins, Denise Kornak, Meda Rigatti, Brian Skanes, Anup Sood and Bill Staudinger.

7th Annual Swinging for the Arts

A 9-hole golf outing to benefit Saratoga Children’s Theatre. Join us at McGregor Links Country Club, located at 369 Northern Pines Rd. Wilton on Wednesday, June 14. RSVP by June 2. Craft Fair – Vendors Wanted

The Saratoga County History Center is seeking vendors of handmade crafts, antiques, and farm products for the annual craft fair at Brookside Museum on Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  No mass produced or commercially manufactured products will be permitted.  Spaces are available outdoors, with limited spaces available indoors.  The fair is a rain-or-shine event. Tree Toga 12 – Volunteer to Help 

Sustainable Saratoga needs you to help plant trees. Tree Toga is a fun, family-friendly event where our amazing volunteers plant trees to leave a green legacy for the next generation. On April 29, volunteers will gather at 9:30 a.m. at Pitney Meadows Community Farm for registration, training, site assignments, and camaraderie. Around 10 a.m. Volunteers will disperse to plant trees. Volunteers will be finished by about noon. The Bike Swap 

Saratoga Shredders is hosting the Bike Swap at Saratoga Spa Park, Hawthorn Pavilion, Saratoga Springs on Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Swap is an event to buy and sell gently used bikes and cycling-related items, for kids and adults. There will be bikes, bike racks, cycling clothing, wheels, tools, and other cycling-related accessories. Children’s Day / El Dia Del Nino Bilingual Story Time

Ballston Spa Public Library has teamed up with LifeWork Community Action to present a bilingual story time for Children’s Day / El Dia Del Nino at the library on Saturday, April 29 at 11 a.m. Preschool and grade school children are invited to attend this fun and free 30-minute story time in both English and Spanish. Wing Fest

The Glens Falls Collaborative will be hosting its annual Wing Fest event on Saturday, April 29 from noon to 3 p.m. in Downtown Glens Falls. The event is a competition between restaurants for the best wings. Participating Downtown restaurants will serve from their storefronts and restaurants from outside the city will serve from locations along Glen, Ridge, and Maple Streets. Volunteer Actors Needed

NYS Park Police, Saratoga Spa State Park, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center are holding a Full-Scale Training Exercise on April 30, 2023 from 7 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The training will focus on coordination and emergency response during several simulated scenarios envisioning an incident involving injuries to a large number of concertgoers at the venue.

RISE Dinner Fundraiser

The Principessa Elena Society, located at 13 Oak St, Saratoga Springs, will host a pasta and meatball dinner for RISE on Sunday, April 30, at 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. Menu: pasta and meatballs, salad, Italian bread and butter and dessert. There will be live music, a raffle, and prizes. Tickets are $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Children under 12 are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. All proceeds will go to repairs for RISE houses, providing safe, healthy housing and support services to people with mental health concerns, substance use, and other life challenges. Writers Workshop Series 

Beginning on May 4, and continuing each Thursday 6:30 – 9:00PM throughout May, Bonnie will guide a Writers Workshop Series at Dionondehowa Wildlife Sanctuary & School, 148 Stanton Rd. in Shushan. There is a charge for this series. It is open to all writers and their form preference.

Annual Ballston Lake Clean Up Day

Volunteers are welcome to join in on Saturday, May 6 by showing up at the Ballston Lake Fire Department, on Route 146-A at 8 a.m. to pick up their road assignments. The project involves doing a clean sweep of winter trash on local roadways in the hamlet of Ballston Lake and its environs. The Town of Ballston parks a large truck at the Ballston Lake Fire Department and at the Outlet Road Parking lot for volunteers to deposit their bags when they have finished their assignments.
