SARATOGA SPRINGS – The City Council met for the second time this month with a full agenda to get through following presentations from both National Grid and Sustainable Saratoga.

SARATOGA SPRINGS – As the name suggests, water is serious business in the city of Saratoga Springs.

After 21 months of negotiations, the Saratoga Springs Board of Education has ratified a three-year agreement with the Saratoga Springs Teachers Association’s (SSTA) 530 teachers. Negotiations began in January 2011, with numerous meetings between the negotiating teams for the teachers and the Board of Education. The agreement, approved by the SSTA on Oct. 11 and by the school board on Oct. 12, is effective July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2014.

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Although Saratoga Debut is the kind of place where a guy can watch ESPN and grab a beer some evenings, this business that originated in a 400-square-foot garage is no man cave.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important month honoring those who have been affected by breast cancer, an illness that is the second-leading cause of cancer death in women, with projections that the disease will claim over 39,000 lives in 2012, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

A group of Lake Avenue Elementary School parents is taking a stand against the Saratoga Springs Board of Education after last year’s ban of playground structures during the winter months. Now, parents are hoping to make changes on the Lake Avenue campus before this winter hits, so their children can play outside, even in the colder weather.

Saratoga Springs City Council for October 2

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga Springs City Council kicked off the month of October with a comprehensive look at the city’s budget for 2013. Finance Commissioner Michele Madigan made a presentation to the public and the rest of the council where she announced a $2.5 million increase in the general fund from the 2012 budget without raising taxes. The total budget comes out to roughly $39.7 million dollars.
