Joan P. Hayes

GREENFIELD – Joan P. Hayes, 84, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Joan was born on October 30, 1941, in Danbury, Connecticut, to Howard and Evelyn (Gustafson) Schroder. She worked for many years as a payroll clerk at Saratoga Bridges.

Joan was a talented and creative woman who found joy in knitting, painting, quilting, and enjoyed giving them to family and friends. She had a gift for making things beautiful and, most importantly, for making people happy. She also loved taking trips and creating special memories with those she loved, just don’t forget your travel blanket.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Altieri (Thomas); her brother, Roy Schroder; her sister, Connie Schrade and her children Brittany and Shane, Joan’s grandchildren, Vanessa Hayes, Ashley Hayes and Jason LaFountain.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son, AJ Hayes, and her brother, John Schroder and very dear friend Bill Dorey.

At Joan’s request, there will be no services.
