Richard Maurice Caron

Brownsburg, IN – Richard Maurice Caron, 71, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at home surrounded by family.
He was born in Albany, NY on July 10, 1954. He was the son of Maurice Caron and Emily Goble.
Richard worked in racing for over 50 years holding many different roles; driver, mechanic, chief mechanic, and team manager. Richard had many career highlights; the greatest was winning the 1998 Indianapolis 500 with Eddie Cheever as the driver. Upon retiring from racing, Richard started Ralf’s Rides (named for his beloved dog), a car restoration business.
Richard is survived by his wife, Brenda; 3 daughters Mikaela Caron, Mallory Jeanty (husband, Fabio), Mackenzie Caron, and his dog Rider. He has 3 sisters – Diana Perrault (Frank), Sylvia Izzo (Skip), and Michelle Caron (Bobby). His brother, Edward Caron preceded him in death.
A Celebration of his Life will be held with family and friends on May 30. His final resting place will be at the Farrell Family Lake (his favorite place) as a part of a Living Urn.
Richard lived a very full, fast, and exciting life; traveling the world, working in a profession he loved, making many lifelong friends, and loving his family.
