The Saratoga Central Catholic Ladies Saints are playing incredible team soccer and are 7-1 at the midway point of their season.

After an opening loss to Whitehall at the Bolton Kickoff Classic Labor Day weekend, the Saints have won seven straight including wins over North Warren, Hadley, Watervliet, Gloversville, and a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory over Whitehall to avenge their only loss of the season. Senior Addison Quail scored late in the first overtime from a direct free kick 30 yards from goal.

The Saints also remain undefeated under the lights at Skidmore College over the last two seasons, a perfect 4-0 and are ranked 20th in the NYS soccer rankings for class D.

This year the Lady Saints are led by senior captains Grace Schaefer, Jill Venn, and Addison Quail with strong contributions from Seniors Lily Guidon and Sophia Ryan.

In addition, Jr. Emma Gilchrist, So. Leanna Scaperrotta, Jr. Maggie Durfee, Fr. Sophia Brunner, Fr. Goalkeeper Autumn Briggs, Jr. Julia Dejnozka, and Fr. Annabella David are all having standout seasons for the lady Saints.

The Saints have outscored their opponents 39-8 through the first eight games using a combination of speed, elite defense and strong goalkeeping.

The team has eight regular season games remaining as they eye up a sectional run. Seven of the remaining games will be played at home, including three primetime matchups at Skidmore College’s Wachenheim Field on 10/9, 10/13 and 10/17.
