Friday, July 3

Grand, Gilded and Glorious: A Saratoga Stroll

Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. – Noon. Friday and Saturdays in June. A guided walking tour celebrating the rich history, glamour, and legendary stories of Saratoga Springs’ Gilded Age. Guests will journey through historic Congress Park and downtown Saratoga Springs while hearing stories of millionaires, mineral springs, luxury hotels, socialites, scandals, and the colorful figures who shaped the Spa City’s golden era. Tour concludes at the Saratoga Springs History Museum inside the Canfield Casino. Participants should expect walking, standing, and some stairs. Tours run rain or shine. Summer Ghost Tours

Canfield Casino, Congress Park, Saratoga Springs | 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The 90-minute guided tours explore the eerie legends, mysterious encounters, and haunted history connected to one of Saratoga Springs’ most iconic landmarks. Led by museum storytellers, the tours offer a blend of history, local lore, and spooky storytelling designed for history lovers, ghost story fans, curious visitors, families, and brave summer adventurers. Guests will explore the historic rooms and halls of the Canfield Casino while hearing tales of its glamorous past, mysterious reputation, and stories that refuse to rest. Return of the Army Events

Fort Ticonderoga, 102 Fort Ti Rd., Ticonderoga | July 3 – 5. A three-day event: Friday, July 3, 2 p.m. the Final Row Up Lake Champlain. Saturday, July 4, 11 a.m. The Distressing Situation with the Sick. 2 p.m. A Grand Review. Sunday, July 5, 11 a.m. The Guns to Defend Ticonderoga. 2 p.m. The First Bastion of Hope. Saturday, July 4

Saturday Morning Social

National Museum of Racing, 191 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs | 9 – 11 a.m. The Museum will offer free admission and there will be complimentary coffee and doughnuts courtesy of Stewart’s Shops and water courtesy of Saratoga Spring Water. The morning will feature a handicapping seminar at 10 a.m. with Daily Racing Form, analyzing the day’s Saratoga Race Course card, including the co-featured Belmont Derby and Belmont Oaks.

Fourth of July Concert & Citizenship Ceremony

Saratoga National Historical Park, Visitor Center, 648 NY 32, Stillwater | 10 a.m. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by helping us welcome ten new citizens of the United States! The event will include a special musical program featuring members of the Racing City Chorus. We’ll wrap up the program with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Large crowds are expected and parking is limited. Please carpool with family or friends if possible and be prepared to walk some distance from overflow parking areas.

Summer Sunday Strolls Down in the Valley: Exploring the Gut

Meet: Historic Hathorn Spring, NW corner of Putnam and Spring Streets, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. Alexandra Morgan leads this walking tour of the area behind Broadway known as “The Gut,” which was home to many working-class and Jewish families who made important contributions to the community. Wander the same streets where grocers sold kosher meats beside oyster houses, where bathhouses promised cures for everything from insomnia to indigestion, and where summer boarders came seeking both mineral waters and a welcoming community. Tours require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours are limited to thirty participants and tickets must be purchased in advance. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members. Saratoga Concert Series – Sly Fox and the Hustlers

War Memorial in Congress Park, Saratoga Springs | 7 p.m. Sly Fox and the Hustlers is a New York-based blues, rock, soul, and funk band formed in 2010, known for its powerful sound and electrifying live performances. Their music blends heavy voodoo blues with soulful, funky grooves, creating a high-energy show that keeps audiences coming back for more. In the event of rain, the concert will move to the covered back garden patio at the Heritage Area Visitor Center, located at 297 Broadway.

The Camp Saratoga 5K Trail Series

Wilton Wildlife Preserve, 80 Scout Rd., Wilton | 6:15 p.m.  To minimize habitat impact, entries are capped at 75 per event. Day-of entries will only be accepted if there is room. This is a low-key gathering topped off by light refreshments and unusual raffle prizes.  Please bring your own water. Weekly Pond Exploration

Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park, 80 Scout Rd., Wilton | 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Discover the aquatic wildlife found at Delegan Pond! Using dipnets, you will get to search for a variety of aquatic animals while learning about their life cycles and adaptations. Registration is required for most of our programs at least one business day in advance. Register on our website or by calling the office at 518-450-0321. 

Our programs are weather dependent and may be cancelled due to inclement weather or poor trail conditions. 

Wednesday, July 8

George III: America’s Last King

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave, Ballston Spa | 6 – 7 p.m. Jim Sefcik will examine the King’s background and personal life, especially those who influenced him the most, his role during the War for American Independence, two events during that time that he had to deal with in addition to the war, and his health leading to his ultimate demise. He was king from 1760 to 1820! And although a Hanoverian as were his 2 immediate predecessors, George regarded himself as an Englishman through and through. Was he a womanizer? Was he “mad”? Stuffed Shells Dinner

Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring Street, Schuylerville | 6 p.m. This event is part of a national simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence which will occur at the same moment across the nation’s ten time zones from here to the western Pacific to commemorate the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence, which was held on July 8, 1776, in front of the Philadelphia State House. The event, sponsored by the Old Saratoga Historical Association, will also include a presentation of colors, singing of patriotic songs led by Jodi Osborn and Chris Tucker, and 13 toasts, followed by ice cream served by the Saratoga County Dairy Ambassadors. Thursday, July 9

Chatfield Museum Open

440 Greenfield Rd., Greenfield | 4 – 6 p.m. Open this summer on Thursdays through September 3.  Two stories of artifacts with connections to the town of Greenfield. Stop over after the Greenfield Farmers Market, next door, in Middle Grove Park and visit us at our tent. Grab a bit to eat.  Admission is free.

17th Adirondack Greek Festival

St. George Church, 55 Main St., South Glens Falls | 4 – 8 p.m. Enjoy souvlaki and gyro sandwiches and pastries outside under the tent. Friday & Saturday, July 10 & 11 from 12 – 7 pm, enjoy our Full Festival days with more authentic Greek food/dinners & pastries, music, entertainment, church tours, and many vendors. Upbeat on the Roof – Oobleck

On the Lawn Outside Tang Museum, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs | 6 p.m. The series highlights regional musical talent in an array of styles, including funk, pop-punk, R&B, folk, indie folk, indie pop, and Americana. Performances take place on Thursdays through August 20. Free and open to the public. 

Annual Car Show and Live Music in the Park Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Town of Greenfield Historical Society on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Middle Grove Town Park located at 428 Middle Grove Road, Middle Grove. Rain date is July 12. Show cars registration, $20. 15 People’s Choice Trophies are given at 2:45 p.m. Bring along your family, friends, and folding chairs and enjoy the talented musicians who have donated their time to benefit our Historical Society. Vendors, Bake Sale, 50/50, Food and Drinks available for purchases. Donations are greatly appreciated as we “Keep Greenfield’s History Alive for our Future Generations. “ 

Upcoming Lawn Sale

Markets at Round Lake

Come and Celebrate the Makers Revolution and Sustainable Food Movement on August 8 & 9, from Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be showcasing over 75 of the best and brightest Artisans in the local and regional Maker and Artisanal Specialty Food community. These Makers, who have been selectively juried, will converge within an eclectic village bringing forth the latest talent and hottest trends. Along with the Makers Market you will find a Food Market including food trucks and prepackaged foods, a Book Market, a Tiny Bookmaking Workshop and live music!
