Grand, Gilded and Glorious: A Saratoga Stroll

Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. – Noon. Friday and Saturdays in June. A guided walking tour celebrating the rich history, glamour, and legendary stories of Saratoga Springs’ Gilded Age. Guests will journey through historic Congress Park and downtown Saratoga Springs while hearing stories of millionaires, mineral springs, luxury hotels, socialites, scandals, and the colorful figures who shaped the Spa City’s golden era. Tour concludes at the Saratoga Springs History Museum inside the Canfield Casino. Participants should expect walking, standing, and some stairs. Tours run rain or shine. Summer Ghost Tours

Canfield Casino, Congress Park, Saratoga Springs | 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The 90-minute guided tours explore the eerie legends, mysterious encounters, and haunted history connected to one of Saratoga Springs’ most iconic landmarks. Led by museum storytellers, the tours offer a blend of history, local lore, and spooky storytelling designed for history lovers, ghost story fans, curious visitors, families, and brave summer adventurers. Guests will explore the historic rooms and halls of the Canfield Casino while hearing tales of its glamorous past, mysterious reputation, and stories that refuse to rest. Saturday Morning Social

National Museum of Racing, 191 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs | 9 – 11 a.m. The Museum will offer free admission and there will be complimentary coffee and doughnuts courtesy of Stewart’s Shops and water courtesy of Saratoga Spring Water. The morning will feature a handicapping seminar at 10 a.m. with Daily Racing Form, analyzing the day’s Saratoga Race Course card, including the co-featured Belmont Derby and Belmont Oaks.

Fourth of July Concert & Citizenship Ceremony

Saratoga National Historical Park, Visitor Center, 648 NY 32, Stillwater | 10 a.m. Celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by helping us welcome ten new citizens of the United States! The event will include a special musical program featuring members of the Racing City Chorus. We’ll wrap up the program with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. Large crowds are expected and parking is limited. Please carpool with family or friends if possible and be prepared to walk some distance from overflow parking areas.

Summer Sunday Strolls Down in the Valley: Exploring the Gut

Meet: Historic Hathorn Spring, NW corner of Putnam and Spring Streets, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. Alexandra Morgan leads this walking tour of the area behind Broadway known as “The Gut,” which was home to many working-class and Jewish families who made important contributions to the community. Wander the same streets where grocers sold kosher meats beside oyster houses, where bathhouses promised cures for everything from insomnia to indigestion, and where summer boarders came seeking both mineral waters and a welcoming community. Tours require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours are limited to thirty participants and tickets must be purchased in advance. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members. Saratoga Concert Series – Sly Fox and the Hustlers

War Memorial in Congress Park, Saratoga Springs | 7 p.m. Sly Fox and the Hustlers is a New York-based blues, rock, soul, and funk band formed in 2010, known for its powerful sound and electrifying live performances. Their music blends heavy voodoo blues with soulful, funky grooves, creating a high-energy show that keeps audiences coming back for more. In the event of rain, the concert will move to the covered back garden patio at the Heritage Area Visitor Center, located at 297 Broadway.

The Camp Saratoga 5K Trail Series

Wilton Wildlife Preserve, 80 Scout Rd., Wilton | 6:15 p.m.  To minimize habitat impact, entries are capped at 75 per event. Day-of entries will only be accepted if there is room. This is a low-key gathering topped off by light refreshments and unusual raffle prizes.  Please bring your own water. Tuesday, July 7

Weekly Pond Exploration

Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park, 80 Scout Rd., Wilton | 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Discover the aquatic wildlife found at Delegan Pond! Using dipnets, you will get to search for a variety of aquatic animals while learning about their life cycles and adaptations. Registration is required for most of our programs at least one business day in advance. Register on our website or by calling the office at 518-450-0321. 

Our programs are weather dependent and may be cancelled due to inclement weather or poor trail conditions.

George III: America’s Last King

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave, Ballston Spa | 6 – 7 p.m. Jim Sefcik will examine the King’s background and personal life, especially those who influenced him the most, his role during the War for American Independence, two events during that time that he had to deal with in addition to the war, and his health leading to his ultimate demise. He was king from 1760 to 1820! And although a Hanoverian as were his 2 immediate predecessors, George regarded himself as an Englishman through and through. Was he a womanizer? Was he “mad”? Reading of the Declaration of Independence

Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring Street, Schuylerville | 6 p.m. This event is part of a national simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence which will occur at the same moment across the nation’s ten time zones from here to the western Pacific to commemorate the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence, which was held on July 8, 1776, in front of the Philadelphia State House. The event, sponsored by the Old Saratoga Historical Association, will also include a presentation of colors, singing of patriotic songs led by Jodi Osborn and Chris Tucker, and 13 toasts, followed by ice cream served by the Saratoga County Dairy Ambassadors. Chatfield Museum Open

440 Greenfield Rd., Greenfield | 4 – 6 p.m. Open this summer on Thursdays through September 3.  Two stories of artifacts with connections to the town of Greenfield. Stop over after the Greenfield Farmers Market, next door, in Middle Grove Park and visit us at our tent. Grab a bit to eat.  Admission is free.

17th Adirondack Greek Festival

St. George Church, 55 Main St., South Glens Falls | 4 – 8 p.m. Enjoy souvlaki and gyro sandwiches and pastries outside under the tent. Friday & Saturday, July 10 & 11 from 12 – 7 pm, enjoy our Full Festival days with more authentic Greek food/dinners & pastries, music, entertainment, church tours, and many vendors. Upbeat on the Roof – Oobleck

On the Lawn Outside Tang Museum, Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs | 6 p.m. The series highlights regional musical talent in an array of styles, including funk, pop-punk, R&B, folk, indie folk, indie pop, and Americana. Performances take place on Thursdays through August 20. Free and open to the public. 

Annual Car Show and Live Music in the Park Fundraiser

Sponsored by the Town of Greenfield Historical Society on Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Middle Grove Town Park located at 428 Middle Grove Road, Middle Grove. Rain date is July 12. Summer Reading Clubs and Programs – Unearth A Story

Ballston Spa Public Library, 21 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa | Offering reading clubs and engaging events for all ages throughout the summer. Registration begins June 26 and may be completed in person at the library or by calling the library. Readers of all ages are encouraged to participate in one of the library’s Summer Reading Clubs. Children, teens, and adults can track the books they read—or listen to—for a chance to win prizes. Summer Reading Clubs run from June 26 – August 28, with a grand prize drawing on August 29.  90th Anniversary Saratoga Lake Association

31St Saratoga Soroptimist Secret Gardens Tour 

Nine private gardens in and around Saratoga Springs | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The popular event this year includes patio-sized getaways, oases hidden in city backyards, and three acres of winding paths just minutes away from downtown. Enjoy a day of surprises and inspiration – all while raising money to improve the lives of women and girls through the nonprofit Soroptimist International of Saratoga County. Rain or shine. Summer Sunday Strolls “Post Time!”

Women & Children in the American Revolution

American Potluck Dinner 

Galway Public Library, 2112 East Street, Galway | 5:30 p.m.  American Potluck Dinner for community members of all ages.  Please bring an “American” dish to share, along with a copy of the recipe.  The dish should be whatever you feel is a reflection of “America,” a traditional dish for your family.  The recipes will be bound together in booklet form.  There will be colonial era games to play in the backyard.  You can also bring a small item to include in our community time capsule.  Registration is requested by calling 518-882-6385.

America 250 Celebration / Halfmoon’s Wall of Thanks

Town of Halfmoon Complex, 2 Halfmoon Town Plaza, Halfmoon | 6 – 9:30 p.m. Honor and Support Veterans – A community donation initiative supporting local Veterans through donated canned goods and non-perishable food donations. Residents are invited to help build a symbolic “Wall of Thanks” at Halfmoon Town Hall by donating canned food and essential pantry items in honor of the men and women who have served our nation. The donation drive will continue through the Town’s America 250 celebration taking place.  All donated items will benefit a local program serving Veterans. 

Revolutionary Schenectady | America 250 Commemoration

Ballston Spa Public Library, 21 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa | 6:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend a special America 250 program presented by educators from the Schenectady County Historical Society.

Participants will learn about Schenectady’s role in the American Revolution and discover how the diverse interests, loyalties, and motivations of its people helped shape the creation of a new nation. Through historical insights and local perspectives, the program offers a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that defined this pivotal era in American history. This program is part of the nationwide America 250 commemoration and is free and open to all members of the public. Chris Carola tells the stories behind the collection of approximately 700 images taken by Charles Siciliano Sr. currently housed at the Mechanicville District Public Library. These photos are visual reminders of the service and sacrifice of so many of our fellow New Yorkers. Saratoga Secret Gardens Tour 

Nine private gardens in and around Saratoga Springs will be featured on the 31st Saratoga Soroptimist Secret Gardens Tour on Sunday, June 28. The popular event this year includes patio-sized getaways, oases hidden in city backyards, and three acres of winding paths just minutes away from downtown. Enjoy a day of surprises and inspiration – all while raising money to improve the lives of women and girls through the nonprofit Soroptimist International of Saratoga County. The Secret Gardens Tour is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 28, rain or shine. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the tour.

Share Your American Story

At least two generations of the Hodgson/Hudson family produced salt-glazed stoneware in the Town of Galway from the 1830s to 1860s.  Members of the Galway Preservation Society have conducted an inventory of existing pieces of Galway stoneware, organized public exhibits and arranged for reproductions of the local pottery.  Anyone who has pieces of stoneware from the Galway factory is encouraged to bring them to the program.

Suye and Her Nieces: WWII on Mt. McGregor with Jackie Pardon

Plant Sale 

The Heritage Garden Club of Saratoga Springs is having a Plant Sale on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to sold-out.  The sale will be held at the Italian American Center, 247 Grand Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Pollinator Palooza

22nd Annual Dog Day Celebration

Impressions of Saratoga, 368 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. H.O.P.E. (Homes for Orphaned Pets Exist) will be here with adoptable pets. Pet food and supply drive to benefit H.O.P.E.  Professional photos by Tracey Buyce Photography $20 donations, all proceeds go to H.O.P.E. Wellspring Saratoga will be here with their Safe Pet Partnership, a program to find foster homes for pets of those in an abusive situation. Battle of the Biscuits, your dog can participate in a treat taste testing activity to see which snack is the favorite!  Pet inspired candles and Mother’s Day candles with a portion of the proceeds will be shared between our participating non-profits.  Well behaved pets on leash are welcome! We want to keep everyone safe. 

Sheep To Shawl Community Day

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave. Ballston Spa | 1 – 4 p.m. The long-running interactive, lambs, farmers, herders, the famous Fred the Shearer, and the Rock Day Spinning Guild will assemble on Brookside Museum’s front lawn to demonstrate every facet of sheep raising, shearing, and spinning to produce the wool clothing that was so ubiquitous in early America. A hands-on, family-friendly event. Young and the young-at-heart will have fun petting the sheep, meeting farmers, and participating in demonstrations. This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.  

Veterans Celebration 2026

373 Crescent Ave., Saratoga | 1 – 7 p.m. The Goat Brothers and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2586 proudly present this event. Live bands and food all day! The cost is $10 per person. Spring has sprung and Mothers’ Day is right around the corner.  Simpson United Methodist Church, 1089 Rock City Road, Rock City Falls will hold its semi-annual Brown Bread & Bake Sale.  A loaf or two of our brown bread can be a unique, tasty gift for mom.  Cost is $8 per loaf.  Gateway Mother’s Day Plant Sale

Gateway House of Peace, located at 4709 Rowland Street, Ballston Spa, will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. or until sold out. All proceeds benefit Gateway House of Peace which is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, caring residence for terminally ill patients in need of a home during their final days.

Adirondack Folk School Forge Fest 

The Adirondack Folk School, located at 51 Main Street, Lake Luzerne is hosting a Forge Fest Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend for free.
