Grand, Gilded and Glorious: A Saratoga Stroll

Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | 10:30 a.m. – Noon. Friday and Saturdays in June. A guided walking tour celebrating the rich history, glamour, and legendary stories of Saratoga Springs’ Gilded Age. Guests will journey through historic Congress Park and downtown Saratoga Springs while hearing stories of millionaires, mineral springs, luxury hotels, socialites, scandals, and the colorful figures who shaped the Spa City’s golden era. Tour concludes at the Saratoga Springs History Museum inside the Canfield Casino. Participants should expect walking, standing, and some stairs. Tours run rain or shine. Belmont Festival at Impressions

368 Broadway, Saratoga Springs | Stop by Friday – Sunday to meet Lexington Kentucky Artist Melissa Crase. Melissa will introduce her 2026 Original Saratoga painting with prints available. Also, we will be hosting Milliner, Nicole Bracken for a pop-up show, Friday – Sunday. Nicole will be showing her simply amazing and creative fascinators that are in huge demand each year at The Kentucky Derby and rival those worn by The British Royalty.  Also, joining us on Sunday morning, meet Greg Montgomery for the annual signing of his 2026 final Belmont in Saratoga Poster. 

Brookside Explorers Club: Student Art Showcase

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa | 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Join us for a First Friday event featuring artwork created through the Artists Inspired by Their Community collaboration with Ballston Spa Middle School. The student pieces will be on display throughout the summer. Stop in, enjoy light refreshments, and spend time viewing the artwork. Visitors of all ages may also take part in a relaxed, optional activity: sketching a local landmark of their own choosing on a blank postcard to take home. Annual Plant Sale

Dockstader Field, Rte. 147, Galway | 9 a.m. – Noon. The Glenville Hills Garden Club of Saratoga County will hold its annual plant sale.  A variety of perennials, annuals, house plants and shrubs will be available.  Sales are cash only and the sale will be held rain or shine. Proceeds will fund the garden club projects, including community beautification and the sponsorship of students at environmental camps.

Perennial Plant Sale

Singles Golf – Nine and Dine

Fairways of Halfmoon, 17 Johnson Rd., Mechanicville | 3 p.m. Are you single? Do you play golf? We are the group for you, Albany Chapter of the American Singles Golf Association (ASGA). Curator’s Tour of All These Growing Things

The Tang Museum at Skidmore College, 815 N. Brown Bag Lunch Lecture – Dressing the Revolutionary Lady

Saratoga Springs Public Library Dutcher Community Room, 49 Henry Street, Saratoga Springs | Noon – 1 p.m. As Saratoga County prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga, join Caitlin Sheldon, Librarian and Historical Costumer, for a demonstration of fashionable women’s dress from the Revolutionary War era. Using historical images and handmade garments, Sheldon will illustrate the many layers and elements involved in 18th-century dress, offering a fascinating look at fashion during this pivotal period in American history.

Popular Garden Plants You Should Replace

Brookside Museum, 21 Fairground Av., Ballston Spa | 1 p.m. The Ballston Spa House & Garden Club is pleased to be hosting Kate Brittenham, an ecological landscape designer and owner of Front Stoop Gardens, to discuss “going native” in our gardens.  During this free, interactive educational program, we will discuss non-native plants – including some old favorites – and what native plants we can use to replace them.  Kate will also cover common garden and landscaping plants that are invasive.  Please feel free to join us for refreshments at 12:30 p.m. prior to the program. 20th Annual Horsemen’s Social 

CCE Equine is excited to announce its annual Horsemen’s Social will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary on June 12. The event will be hosted this year where it all started at our 4-H Training Center located at 556 Middleline Rd. Ballston Spa. Annual Yard Sale

Gateway House of Peace is having their annual yard/tent sale.  The yard sale will be held on June 12 and 13, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  and June 14, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 479 Rowland Street, Ballston Spa. All proceeds benefit our end-of-life comfort care house.

Summer BBQ Fundraiser

Chicken and pulled pork dinners are available for $16.00 and beef brisket dinners for $21.00 (beef brisket by pre-order only). All dinners include baked potato, coleslaw and cornbread. Malta Spring Market: Craft and Vendor Fair

Malta Community Center, 1 Bayberry Dr., Malta | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. This year’s event is set to make history as one of the largest spring craft fairs in Saratoga County, featuring an impressive lineup of 120 vendors both indoors and outdoors. A vibrant mix of handmade goods, local artisans, specialty products, and unique small businesses, offering something for every interest and age group. Attendees can expect a wide variety of offerings including handcrafted décor, jewelry, artwork, home goods, boutique items, and more. With over 100 vendors spread across the Malta Community Center grounds, the event promises an engaging and accessible experience, rain or shine. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to explore the full range of offerings and support local businesses.

Plant Sale 

Italian American Center, 247 Grand Avenue, Saratoga Springs | 9 a.m. – sold-out. Hosted by The Heritage Garden Club of Saratoga Springs. There will be a wide variety of perennial plants, annuals, and several herbs available.   The sale will also feature garden crafts made by members of the Heritage Garden Club.  Come early for the best selections.  

Pollinator Palooza 

Oligny’s Country Gardens, 390 Wilton-Gansevoort Rd, Gansevoort | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Join Sustainable Saratoga for a native plant sale and pollinator education event.  Native pollinators (bees, butterflies, etc.) are in drastic decline due to habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change. Planting native plants provides essential food and habitat for native pollinators. It is often challenging to find native plants, but at Pollinator Palooza, you can shop our selection of over 30 native plant species. Rain date May 31. Cash or check only.

Share Your American Story

Galway Public Library, 2112 East Street, Galway | 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. This program is an opportunity to share a short story about your family’s American experiences and perspectives.  Storytellers are asked to register by calling 518-882-6385.  Stories should be limited to 20 minutes maximum.  The event will be videotaped and shared with the largest audiovisual archive of American stories ever created.  Even if you are not sharing a story, please come listen to what other people have to share about their American journey.

Annual Wildlife Festival

Camp Saratoga, 80 Scout Rd., Wilton | 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Our annual Wildlife Festival is a time to enjoy the spectacular bloom of the wild blue lupin flowers while observing the first brood of the endangered Karner blue butterfly. Learn about other native wildlife and get out and enjoy the local trails in the town of Wilton. 9th Annual “Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists

Saratoga Performing Art Center, 108 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs | 2 – 5:30 p.m. Following the theme Seasons, this year’s event will celebrate cycles of growth, transformation, reflection and renewal, while also commemorating 60 years of SPAC and its blossoming into a vibrant, year-round organization. The festival will celebrate the collaborative creativity of more than 700 of the Capital Region’s brightest young dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists all in support of SPAC’s mission to provide free and accessible arts programming for local youth. Annual Potluck Dinner

Galway Town Hall, 5910 Sacandaga Road, Galway | 6 p.m. Members and new members – bring a dish, meet new friends and join the Galway Preservation Society.  Membership is $10 annually per family or household.  The program at 7 p.m. follows and is open to the public, free of charge. This month’s program, “Galway Pottery Works, a Historical Perspective” will be presented by Arlene Rhodes and Sue Wemple. At least two generations of the Hodgson/Hudson family produced salt-glazed stoneware in the Town of Galway from the 1830s to 1860s.  Members of the Galway Preservation Society have conducted an inventory of existing pieces of Galway stoneware, organized public exhibits and arranged for reproductions of the local pottery.  Anyone who has pieces of stoneware from the Galway factory is encouraged to bring them to the program.

Accepting Donations Annual Yard Sale

Gateway House of Peace is accepting ready-to-sell donations for their annual yard/tent sale from June 3-June 10, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at 479 Rowland Street, Ballston Spa. Please be considerate: If you can’t sell it, neither can we! Items in bad condition take volunteer time and fill our dumpsters at our expense. Items not accepted: No clothes, TVs, computers, car seats, cribs, mugs, books, large appliances, upholstered furniture and mattresses. Yard sale runs from June 12 and 13, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  and June 14, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit our end-of-life comfort care house.

History Caravan

Join a Park Volunteer for a caravan-style tour of the battlefield! Tours will last 2.5-3 hours. Meet in the Visitor Center and follow along in your own vehicle for as long as you like. Curator’s Tour: Luther Forest: A Family, A Woodland, A Legacy

Honor and Remember

Suye and Her Nieces: WWII on Mt. McGregor with Jackie Pardon

Pollinator Palooza

Adirondack Folk School Forge Fest 

The Adirondack Folk School, located at 51 Main Street, Lake Luzerne is hosting a Forge Fest Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to attend for free. 2026 Historic Homes Tour

The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation, along with Honorary Chair Julie Furey, will welcome spring with the 2026 Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, May 9. Experts Next Door: I Ride to Win: Isaac Murphy and Civil War America

Live on Zoom | 7 – 8 p.m.  Isaac Murphy won three Kentucky Derbys and every other major American stakes race of the nineteenth century. He was among the jockeys inducted into the National Museum of Racing’s Hall of Fame in its inaugural class. He was also born enslaved in 1861, the son of a Civil War widow, and he lived through the violent conflicts of Reconstruction to become the first true superstar Black athlete in the United States. This talk examines Murphy’s life and career and the light it sheds on his sport and the history of his country. Katherine Mooney is James P. Experts Next Door: Tree by Tree: Saving North America’s Eastern Forests

Live on Zoom, 7 – 8 p.m. For decades, the forests of Eastern North America have faced pathogen and insect pests that have functionally removed tree species from the landscape. This talk will discuss the ecological roles that trees play, the biology of the threats faced, and the approaches that may remediate the problems. Scott Meiners is a Plant Ecologist with a primary research focus on plant community dynamics. He is a Professor at Eastern Illinois University conducting research and training graduate and undergraduate researchers. At home, Scott is a tree collector, growing chestnuts, paw paws and producing maple syrup.

The Thymly Herb Garden Group Meeting

Monday, April 20, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the, 4-H Training Center, 556 Middleline Rd, Ballston Spa. Guest speaker Theresa Mays will speak about the historical Importance of Shaker Gardens and their culinary uses. There will be a short Herb of the Month presentation by a member. Special Exhibit: America 250 Tapestry Project

The Van Schaick Mansion, located at 1 Van Schaick Ave., Cohoes, will welcome visitors on Saturday, April 11, from 1- 4 p.m. This event marks the final opportunity to view the New York State panel, beautifully stitched by the Capital District Embroiderer’s Guild of America as part of the America 250 Tapestry Project, before it departs for Williamsburg, Virginia. Meet the talented stitchers and witness firsthand the intricate work they have created. Admission to the mansion grounds and cemetery is free. Guided tours of the historic mansion are scheduled for 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to join a tour for a $5 donation, which supports the preservation of this important site.

Adk Scent Work Club Fundraiser 

Please join us on Sunday, April 12 for an afternoon of fun, competition, and community spirit at KPA Family Fun Center in South Glens Falls, from 1 – 4 p.m. Includes 2 hours of bowling, dog and handlers scent work demonstrations, a 50-50, basket raffle, and lots of fun! Proceeds support Adk Scent Work Club which is a dedicated group committed to advancing the skills and abilities of dogs and handlers in the sport of scent detection. Spring Chicken BBQ Fundraiser

Gateway House of Peace will be holding their Spring chicken BBQ fundraiser on Wednesday, April 15 from 4-6 pm at the House at 479 Rowland Street, Ballston Spa. Enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Big Tony’s BBQ. Each meal includes half a chicken, baked potato, a side, and a roll. Preorders are required. Meals will not be available to buy on site. Saratoga Center for the Family 50th Anniversary Celebration Gala: Gathering for Gratitude

Call for Volunteers for Tree Toga

On Saturday, April 25, Sustainable Saratoga’s Urban Forestry Project will hold its 15th TREE TOGA planting event, adding 40 large-growing shade trees to the Saratoga Springs urban forest and bringing the total number of trees planted to nearly 500. Volunteer Tree Planters are needed from 9 am – noon. This fun, family-friendly event is open to all. Tree Planters check in at Pitney Meadows Community Farm from 9 – 9:30 a.m. and get a lesson in tree planting before heading off in small teams to their assigned locations across the city. Bus Trips with The Olde Saratoga Seniors

The Olde Saratoga Seniors are hosting two bus trips.  First trip is April 30 to West Point for a tour and lunch.  Cost is $85 per person for non-members. Craft Fair at Brookside – Vendors Wanted!

The Saratoga County History Center, located at 21 Fairground Ave., Ballston Spa, is seeking vendors of handmade crafts, antiques and farm products for the annual craft fair on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.  No mass-produced or commercially made items will be permitted.
