Brian G. Nettleton
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY- Brian G. Nettleton, 66, of Saratoga Springs, NY died August 30, 2026, at his home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born in Albany, NY on November 11, 1959, he was the youngest child of the late William J. and Rita Haeser Nettleton. He attended Vincentian Institute High School in Albany and was a 1978 graduate of Bishop Maginn High School in Albany, the first graduating class from a merger of Vincentian Institute and Cardinal McCloskey High Schools, and a 1981 graduate of Hudson Valley Community College.
Brian was employed by Stantec in Albany as an Electrical Engineering Designer and shared his talents on many projects, most notably incorporating his work in many Presidential Libraries. Over the years, his work often provided him the opportunity to travel to exciting places and meet fascinating people; his favorite was the Prague Christmas Market.
Brian spent over 18 years training at U.S. Budokai Karate under the guidance of Hanshi William Reid and Hanshi Russ Jarem, attaining the rank of Senpai, third dan black belt. His years spent in the dojo brought many valuable lessons that transferred to all aspects of his life.
Brian loved to spend time outdoors, and in his garage creating cutting boards as he perfected his woodworking skills. Spending time in his garage making beautiful items from wood brought a sense of calm to him as he faced the challenges his illness brought.
Among the many milestones in his life, the births of his children were marked with immense joy and great pride. Being a devoted father was his greatest accomplishment and his faith, spirit and resolute love for them will forever be a testament to the life he lived. In 2013, he met the woman who would change his life for the better, and together they embarked on building a beautiful future.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon McCarthy and sister-in-law, Bridget Nettleton.
Brian is survived by his loving family, fiancé, Deborah Micho, son Nicholas Nettleton, daughter and son-in-law Graceanne and Daniel Lovaglio, all of Saratoga Springs. Also survived by stepchildren Faith Smith, Billy (Anamaria) Micho and 3 grandchildren; brother Bill Nettleton, sisters Maureen (Frank) Callander, Laure (Clark) Donkin, Lisa (John Plourd) Ames, brother-in-law Tim McCarthy, 10 nieces and nephews; and his children’s mother, Patti Di Stasio. In addition, Brian is remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him, most especially his treasured friend Larney Clark who helped care for him in his final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Wednesday, September 9 at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave. Followed by burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave, Saratoga Springs.

While Brian’s departure leaves a void that can never be filled, we will remember a life lived with immense love and laughter. Brian’s legacy of humor, perseverance, and loyalty will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
