Online Auction
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Saratoga Springs is holding an online auction, open to the community, with the proceeds to be used in our social justice programs and in our ministry. Fundraiser Drive-Through
St. Clement’s School located at 231 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs will be hosting a Dizzy Chicken BBQ Dinner Drive-Through on Tuesday, Nov. 3 starting at 4 p.m. until food runs out. The cost is $15, which will include a chicken half (antibiotic free), baked potato, coleslaw, dinner roll, cookie and bottled water. No pre-sales just drive up to the door between the school and the rectory to purchase your dinners. Cash only. Rain or shine.

Election Day Chili Meal 
Take-out only. The Malta Ridge United Methodist Church Election Day Chili Meal is back, Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Church located at 729 Malta Avenue Ext., Malta Ridge. Southern Saratoga Art Society
Artists and members of the Southern Saratoga Art Society are exhibiting during the months of November and December at the Clifton Park Senior Community Center, 6 Clifton Common Ct., Clifton Park.  Thirteen artists will present “A Fall Festival of Art,” an eclectic mix of artwork. Fundraiser Take Out
Knights of Columbus #246 will be hosting a Fundraiser Takeout of Italian roasted half chickens on Friday, October 23, from 5 – 8.  In addition to the chicken there will be oven roasted potatoes, acorn squash, and a garden salad.  The cost of the meal will be $18, and dessert can be purchased for an additional charge.  To place your order, call 518-584-8547 on Wednesday, October 21, Thursday, October 22, on the day of the event between 1 and 3 p.m.  If the line is busy and/or you get the answering machine, please do not leave a message, as we may not receive it.  Just call back in a couple of minutes.  Thank you so very much for your continued support of our events.

Saratoga Elks Auxiliary Craft & Garage Sale 
Our change to the Monthly Sale was a hit last Saturday, so we have decided to have another outside sale on Saturday, October 24 from 11 – 3 p.m. We will hold the sale in the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Club parking lot on Elks Lane.  Admission is free with over 30 vendors; parking is great, bargains galore, and friends.  We offer household items, sports equipment, hand-made items, clothing, fabrics, jewelry, party vendors, pet supplies, food treats, and just about anything you can imagine may be found here.  New vendors are signing up every month. An 8-foot table and chair are just $15; call Linda at 518-289-5470 for information or to sign up for a table(s).  All Covid-19 guidelines will be followed; people must wear masks and adhere to socially distancing guidelines. Tables are placed 6 foot apart with ample distancing in front of tables.  Rain date: Sunday, Oct. 25.

Ponies, Pumpkins and Pies
On Sunday, October 25, the community is invited to celebrate this beautiful time of year in Saratoga with an afternoon of Ponies, Pumpkins and Pies on a farm tour experience for the whole family. The inaugural event is a collaboration between the Saratoga-based Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation and Pitney Meadows Community Farm. Guests will enjoy a short Sunday drive around a winding pasture path full of ponies and preserved farmland.  The fun starts at noon and wraps up at 3 p.m. All guests must register in advance and remain in their cars throughout the event. The cost is $10 per car with the option to pre-order local pies and pumpkins.  Attendees are encouraged to add to the festive atmosphere by dressing in costume and each child will receive a goodie bag.  Link to event page here: www.trfinc.org/event/ponies2020. Wellspring’s Annual Pooch Parade
In the interest of keeping our community safe (pets included), Wellspring is hosting their annual Pooch Parade virtually this year, on Oct. 16, 17, and 18. This annual event raises awareness and funds for Wellspring’s Safe Pet Partnership Program, which assists victims of domestic violence by providing safe, temporary placement of family pets through a network of volunteer pet “foster homes” while our clients transition to safe housing.  This year, instead of gathering to parade around Congress Park we are inviting community members and their pooches to register online with Wellspring and then plan a walk around their neighborhood, park, home – wherever works! Genealogy Program
Dr. Thomas W. Jones will deliver a one-hour program via Zoom that will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17. The topic will be “Out-of-State Workarounds for In-State Record Shortages.” It features the case study of Thomas Greenfield, a man who owned no land, and left no record of heirs. Dr. Jones will take viewers through the reconstruction of Thomas Greenfield’s family—two wives and 18 children—from direct and indirect evidence in DNA and in common and obscure records from national to local levels, mostly from states where Thomas never lived. The Agricultural Stewardship Association (ASA) is pleased to offer four levels of the highly sought-after Game of Logging Training. Levels 1 and 2 will be held on Oct. 17 and 18. Levels 3 and 4 will be held on Oct. 24 and 25. The trainings will be taught by David Birdsall from Northeast Woodland Training. A limited number of scholarships are available for landowners and farmers in Washington and Rensselaer counties who can commit to completing all four levels this year. Space is limited. Movies in the Pumpkin Patch
Three nights of drive-up family fun movies projected onto four of the world’s largest inflatable movie screens each with 2000 watt sound system. All the fun will take place at the Washington County Fairgrounds parking area located at 392 Old Schuylerville Rd, Greenwich on Columbus Day weekend starting at 7 p.m. each night. Fairground gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Movie schedule is as follows: Jurassic Park – Friday October 9, Hotel Transylvania – Saturday October 10 and Ghostbusters – Sunday October 11. Tickets are $20 per vehicle each night. Cow Plop Bingo
Schuyler Hose Company will be hosting the fundraiser on October 10 in Fort Hardy Park, Schuylerville, at 1 p.m. There will be an area of 400 squares fenced off. Whoever has the lucky square where the cow makes its plop will win $500 and $250 where the calf plops. JR Rangers Program
For ages 5 – 10.  This introductory program will teach your child the basic skills of skating, stick-handling, passing and shooting through (10) one-hour lessons. In addition, they will learn the importance of hard work, teamwork and sportsmanship. Best of all, your child’s registration includes a free brand new set of head to toe CCM hockey equipment custom fitted by Pure Hockey. Past participants are welcomed to join Learn to Play for another season or all three! However, they will not receive a set of equipment if they have participated in the program before. Fee is $250. Farmers’ Market Coupons
Due to COVID-19, the Office for the Aging will be making an exception in 2020 to mail Farmers’ Market Coupons to those who were unable to attend the drive thru events. Please call 518-884-4100 to request we mail the attestation form. When you receive the attestation form in the mail, please fill it out and mail it back in the self-addressed stamped envelope provided.  We will then mail the coupon book to you. Qualifications for Farmer Market Coupons – one booklet per individual:  Age 60 and over and Income Eligibility: $1968/month for one-person household or $2658/month for two-person household. 

Pressure Canner Gauge Testing
If you plan to do any pressure canning, it is time to get your pressure gauge tested. The USDA National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends testing gauges each year before use to ensure its accuracy. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga and Albany County offer this free service. Using a Presto Dial Gauge Testing Unit our educators test your gauge against our annually calibrated gauge. Having proper pressure is essential to safe pressure canning and prevention of botulism food poisoning. A gauge that is off by up to two pounds can still be used with the proper adjustment, a gauge that is off by more than two pounds should be replaced. Annual Senior Picnic 
The Saratoga County Office for the Aging is proud to present an All-American Salute to Seniors on Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds, Ballston Spa from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. This will be a car-hop style event complete with hotdogs, hamburgers, apple pie and other summer hits. This event is for Saratoga County Residents 60 and over. Lunch is served as you come in from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parking will be available on site. For your safety, this event will look a bit different than prior years. Vehicles will be parked at a safe distance. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair or blanket to place in front of your vehicle or you may stay in your vehicle (drive-in style). 26th Annual Town-Wide Garage & Craft Sale
September 12 & 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rain or shine. Numerous sales located throughout the Town of Greenfield (including Greenfield Center, Porter Corners, and Middle Grove – Saratoga County). Free maps of all of the garage sales will be available beginning Sept. 11 at the Stewart’s Shop in Greenfield and Middle Grove, the Post Offices at Middle Grove, Porter Corners and Greenfield Center, the Town Hall in Greenfield, the Greenfield Center Baptist Church, and the Greenfield Lions Information/Silent Auction Tent.   

Pressure Canner Gauge Test
If you plan to do any pressure canning, it is time to get your pressure gauge tested. The USDA National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends testing gauges each year before use to ensure accuracy. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga and Albany County offer this free service. Using a Presto Dial Gauge Testing Unit educators test your gauge against an annually calibrated gauge. Adirondack Greek Festival
The 11th annual Adirondack Greek Festival hosted by St. George Church, 55 Main St., South Glens Falls, will be held on Friday & Saturday, August 28 & 29 from 12 to 7 pm.  We will be offering Take-Out ONLY and requiring social distancing and face masks.  Come enjoy gyros, souvlaki, Greek salads, Greek fries, baklava & other delicious pastries. Live Chamber Music Benefit
A Benefit at SPAC’s Pines Pavilion on Friday, August 28 and repeated Sunday, August 30. Both concerts start at 3 p.m. Join the Saratoga Chamber Players for a LIVE chamber music experience at the Pines, SPAC’s new open-air, covered pavilion.  The concert is a benefit in support of SCP’s musicians. 9th Annual Jane Austen Retreat
Join the Jane Austen Society North America (JASNA)-New York Capital Region for the 9th Annual Jane Austen Retreat at Wiawaka Retreat Center for Women on Lake George, on August 28-30. Participants will join scholars and enthusiasts in exploring Austen’s world through facilitated discussions, viewing and discussion of a filmed adaptation of “Lady Susan,” and special sessions led by the featured presenters, concluding with a Box Hill Picnic. The cost of retreat attendance is $25 for JASNA members and $30 for non-members. Sunday Slow Roll
Pump up your tires and celebrate summer biking with an all ages slow roll on the streets of Saratoga Springs Sunday, August 30 at 10 a.m. Helmets encouraged; masks are a must.  Hosted by Bicycle Benefits, Palette Cafe, Bikeatoga and Impressions of Saratoga.Ride rolls out from Palette Cafe at 10:15 sharp so roll over early to grab a bite to eat or drink.  Cruisers, road bikes, tandems welcome.  We will ride at 10 mph for 6-8 miles and finish at Humpty Dumpty’s Ice Cream at noon.

The Saratoga County Office for the Aging is proud to present an All-American Salute to Seniors. This year’s Annual Senior Picnic will be on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds! Car-hop style event complete with hotdogs, hamburgers, apple pie and other summer hits. This event is for Saratoga County Residents 60 and over. Lunch is served at 12 p.m. and parking will be available on-site. For your safety, this event will look a bit different than prior years. Vehicles will be parked at a safe distance. We encourage you to bring a lawn chair or blanket to place in front of your vehicle or you may stay in your vehicle drive-in style). Unfortunately, there will be no seating at the picnic tables under the pavilion. Our staff and volunteers will serve you at your parking space. Craft Fair – Christmas in August
Saturday, August 22 – Rain Date Sunday, August 23, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sponsored by The Unitarian Universalist Church of Saratoga Springs to support social justice work in the community. Selling pottery, pillowcases, jewelry, many homemade gifts, jellies and jams, face masks, crane mobiles and much more.  It will be held on the lawn at 11 Whitney Place, Saratoga Springs – 1 block off Lincoln and Broadway.
