MIDDLEBURG, FL — The family of Kenneth Mara sadly announces the sudden death of Susan Edith Walsh Mara on Thursday, September 3, 2020. She was born on May 3, 1953 in Glens Falls, the daughter of the late Edward S. and Leone (Smith) Walsh. 

Sue graduated from Caroline Street Elementary School in Saratoga Springs in 1966, Waterloo Middle School in Laurel, Maryland in 1968, Queensbury High School in 1971, Adirondack College in Queensbury in 1973 with a degree in accounting. Her love of the Saratoga Springs area included her wonderful “Gram,” Violet Walsh.

Sue was employed by the First Union Bank in Naples, FL for thirty years as a mortgage loan officer retiring in 2005. After her retirement she volunteered her time, talents and enterprise helping her husband Ken teach at Walker Elementary School in Crestview, FL.

Sue met her husband and best friend Ken on a connecting flight from Florida to New York and Rhode Island. The rest was history. She is best known as being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was devoted to her pets’ care, which included cooking their meals. Her love for the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots knew no bounds, with sincere admiration for Tom Brady. She also admired Tigger because he bounced.

Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Kenneth Mara, one Daughter, Amanda Sconiersof DeFuniak Springs, FL, one son, Michael Patrick Mara of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, two grandchildren, Kennedy and Glen Edward Sconiers, one brother, Robert E. Walsh of Brandon, VT, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Victor Rayfiel passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 after a long illness. He was 63.

Born on December 25, 1956 in Brooklyn, he was the loving son of Howard and Eileen Rayfiel.

Victor was raised in Los Angeles, where he worked in the television and film industry. He later returned to Upstate New York where he was a Microsoft Certified Professional. He attended UCLA and Skidmore College.

Victor is survived by his devoted parents, Howard and Eileen Rayfiel of Sarasota, FL, his loyal sister, Amy Lavin, of Saratoga Springs, and his amazing and wonderful friend, Felicia Fendentz, of Gansevoort, as well as other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be private. Donations in Victor’s name may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation or to the charity of your choice.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Debby Lynn McNair passed away on August 26, 2020 at Saratoga Hospital with her loved ones at her side. She was born on June 18, 1962 in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late Willis F. Kniffen and Patricia A. Moss Kniffen. 

Debby graduated from Greenwich high School, class of 1980. She served her country with pride in the US Army from September of 1980 to September of 1984. Debbie was a groundskeeper at the New York Racing Association for several years.  Debby really enjoyed serving others with joy, always eager to help, no matter what the problem was.  She really enjoyed having fun with her loved ones and friends.

Debby is survived by her spouse Lester Jerome McNair; son, Lester McNair, Jr.; daughter, Katherine Lynn McNair; grandchildren, Meiah McNair, Blake McNair, Rory McNair; brothers, Mike Kniffen, David Kniffen, John Kniffen; many nieces, nephew and friends who will miss her dearly. Debby is preceded in death by her sister, Sandy DeLurey.

Pauline Mae Kindig

It is with great sadness that the family of Pauline Mae Kindig announces her passing on August 18, 2020, at the age of 96. Pauline resided with her daughter, Lisa Burchell, and her husband, Randy, during the last years of her life, before entering Wesley Health Care Center.

Pauline, affectionately known as Polly, was born on November 25th, 1923 in York, PA, the daughter of Clarence and Ollie Druck. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Franklin Kindig, her sister, Grace Brickner, and her son, Ronald Eugene Kindig.

She is survived by her brother, Charles Druck of York, PA, and her three remaining children, Carol Cope of Irvine, CA, David Kindig of San Diego, CA, and Lisa Burchell of Stillwater, NY. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and five
great grandchildren.

Pauline was known as a loving wife and mother, as well as a hard worker who was always willing to shoulder any burden to help out her friends and family. She endured the stresses of World War II, as her husband served in the Pacific during the first years of her marriage. She faced the hardships of life, all while maintaining her sense of humor and strength of spirit. A kind and gentle soul, her family and close friends were what she treasured most. She was an avid reader and her cooking was legendary. She also loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. Her faith in God was central to her life and gave her peace in her final days.

Special thanks is given to her caregivers in her later years, which included Rae Johnson, Renee Cote’, and the caring staff of Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.

DAN POINT, CA — Laurie Zeh lost her long battle with breast cancer on August 12, 2020. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at her home in Dan Point, CA. 

Laurie was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, dear sister and good friend. Her family and friends will remember her for her generosity, intelligence, and her love of skiing, tennis and bridge.

Laurie was born in Saratoga Springs on January 23, 1940 to Lawrence Gordon and Nellie Spaulding Gordon. She graduated with honors from Saratoga High School in 1958. She loved Saratoga and shared fond memories of her high school years and the Saratoga Winter Club. 

She was a Magna cum Laude graduate of Syracuse University in 1962 with a major in Political Science. She was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honorary, Pi Kappa Phi all-university scholastic honorary, and Phi Beta Kappa national scholastic honorary. 

Laurie met and married her husband Dale W. Zeh in 1961. While he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Laurie finished her senior year studies.

In 1965, they and their two sons moved to Pasadena, California where her husband did his Army tour of duty during the Vietnam war at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In 1970, they moved to Miami, Florida where Dale attended medical school. Upon receiving his M.D., they moved back to California where Dale did his internship and residency in Los Angeles.

They lived in San Marino while raising their two sons, Dale Jr. and William. When Dale began his anesthesiology practice at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Laurie did the billing for his practice and started what was to become one of the largest anesthesia billing companies in California. 

Laurie and Dale enjoyed travelling to many countries around the world and skiing with family and friends in Utah and Colorado. Laurie was a past President of the San Marino Tennis Foundation, a member of the Pasadena Jr. Philharmonic Committee, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and a communicant of All Saints Church in Pasadena and St. Clement’s By-The-Sea in San Clemente.

Laurie is survived by her sons Dale Jr. and William, their wives Laura and Lisa, and five grandchildren: Jonathan, Heidi, Maggie, Rachel and Ryan. She is also survived by her sister Lynne Gordon Doyle (Danny) of Sarasota and sister Rhea Gordon Demory; and her brothers
Jan Scott (Anne), David (Kate) and Peter (Karen) Gordon; several nieces and nephews and several grandnieces and nephew. Her parents, her husband and eldest brother Lawrence (Patricia Watkins Gordon) pre-deceased her. 

Memorial gifts may be made to City of Hope, Office of Planned Giving, in Duarte, CA. Internment of ashes will be in the family plot at Greenfield Center Cemetery. A Celebration of Laurie and Dale’s Lives will be at St. Clement’s By-The-Sea in San Clemente on Tuesday, September 8.
