Miriam Ann Sciangalepore

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Miriam Ann Sciangalepore, age 88, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Mary’s Haven in Saratoga Springs surrounded by the love of her family.

Miriam was born on April 20, 1938, in White Plains, New York, the daughter of the late Frank Loguidice and Elizabeth Mastramateo Loguidice.

Music was a lifelong passion for Miriam and became an important part of both her personal and professional life. Following her graduation from the Juilliard Preparatory Division and Potsdam State Teachers College, Miriam began a rewarding career as a music educator. She taught for many years in the Milford, Connecticut school system, where her love of music extended far beyond the classroom.

While in Milford, Miriam founded and directed the city chorus, “Sound of Freedom.” From 1973 through 1982, the chorus shared the joy of music throughout the community while raising more than $12,000 for local and state charities. Miriam composed and arranged much of the music performed by the group, and her talents as a musician and arranger led to the publication of her work by Alfred Publishers. Through her teaching, composing, arranging, and directing, Miriam had the opportunity to share her musical gifts with countless students, performers, and audiences throughout the years.

In 1987, Miriam and her husband, Gary, made Saratoga Springs their home. She continued her dedication to music education, teaching for many years at Malta Avenue Elementary School in the Ballston Spa area. Miriam took great pride in encouraging young people to discover their own appreciation for music and creativity.

Away from the classroom and the piano, Miriam was wonderfully creative in many other ways. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and creating beautiful dried-flower arrangements. Whether working with music, fabric, or flowers, she had a special ability to turn her creativity into something meaningful and beautiful.

Above all, Miriam treasured her family. She shared her life with her loving husband, Gary, and took great joy in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her family will remember not only her remarkable musical talents and creativity, but also her gracious spirit and the many memories they were blessed to share with her.

Miriam is survived by her loving husband, Gary Sciangalepore; her daughters, Lisa Swift and her husband, Robert, and Stacey Bodeau; her brother, James Loguidice; her sister, Lorraine Stewart; her grandchildren, Ryan Brady, Collin Brady and his wife, Kimberly, and great grandchildren, Letty, Tommy, Charlie, and Vinny as well as many extended family members, former students, colleagues, and friends who will miss her gracious spirit and the music she brought into the lives of so many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Loguidice.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford, Connecticut, where Miriam will be laid to rest. The date and time of the service will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
