Old World Gourmet Market Closes Wilton Store After Series of Setbacks.

Old World Gourmet Market took to Facebook on Monday, Sept 14, to announce their storefront on Route 50 in Wilton will be closing, citing economic pressure. The store will consolidate their operations to 514 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, where they will continue to provide prepared meals, catering, and deli services.

“Like many small businesses, we’ve faced a challenging economic environment, and ultimately made the decision that it was time to close this chapter,” the business wrote on Facebook. 

This decision comes 15 months after opening their store in the former home supply store, Pier 1. 

The Market had a few setbacks during their short time in business. Only a few days after opening, the store was forced to temporarily close over issues with service providers. Then two months later, the company closed again, this time for three weeks due to staffing issues. 

The previous closure announcement back in Augst of 2025 elicited Facebook comments alleging mismanagement and problems with payments as reported by Saratoga TODAY. 

“Employees were only given notice day of and are now left without a job for at least 3 weeks,” wrote one anonymous poster. “We are told that it is for ‘maintenance’ and aren’t given any form of idea when employees are to return to work. I will not be returning for the reopen and neither will many of my coworkers.”

Many commenters on local Facebook pages regarding this permanent closure were disappointed but not surprised.

“This is a bummer because we actually enjoyed shopping there, whenever it was open. The hours felt inconsistent and the bakery wasn’t always reliably fresh, but the food was good,” read a comment on What’s Going on Saratoga.

According to the Times Union, owner John Biagini believes he is in over six-figures of debt over the venture. 

Old World Gourmet Market will honor any unredeemed gift cards at their deli on Broadway.
