The Lady Saint Soccer team completed one of the most successful seasons in Spa Catholic history, finishing 9-6-2.
The Saints lost to defending champions Fort Ann, 3-2 in a thrilling section 2 class D semifinal. Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Ladies rallied in the second half to tie the game 2-2 with goals from Addison Quail and Grace Schaefer.
Fort Ann would get the go-ahead goal off a corner kick and successfully fend off late pressure from the Saints, highlighted by an incredible save by Fort Ann’s goalkeeper from a direct free kick by Addison Quail.
The Saints are currently ranked #25 in NYS Class D rankings. Overall, the team scored 49 goals while giving up 26 goals over 17 games this season.
During their historic season, the team had exciting wins over Gloversville, Whitehall, and Bolton Landing while remaining undefeated at Skidmore over the last two years while playing 5 games at Wachenheim Field this season, going 3-0-2.
The team will lose its most talented class of seniors in school history including Grace Schaefer, Jill Venn, Lily Guidon, Addison Quail, and Sophia Ryan. However, the group is leaving a lasting impression and a solid foundation for the future of the Lady Saints Soccer program.
