Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office to Participate In Statewide Super Bowl High Visibility Engagement Campaign

BALLSTON SPA — Saratoga County Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo that the Sheriff’s Office and Saratoga County police agencies will participate in special efforts to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving this Super Bowl.

The campaign takes place Feb. 9- 10.

Alcohol consumption and impaired driving often increase during major sporting events like the Super Bowl, particularly around pre-game gatherings, halftime, and post-game celebrations, according to a statement issued by the sheriff’s office.

According to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 45% of all fatal crashes on Super Bowl Sunday in 2022 involved alcohol.

“Regardless of the final score, you can make sure you end up on the winning side by making a plan in advance,” Sheriff Zurlo said. “No excuses. Plan now and make the right call.”
