Major Heroin Bust In Stillwater

STILLWATER— The Stillwater Police Department made three arrests in what was one of the largest drug busts they have ever handled. Three Stillwater residents were arrested on Friday, February 21, for selling heroin and a total of thirteen felonies. The arrests took place at 8 Birch Lane in the Saratoga Hills Mobile Home Park where police confiscated heroin, money and a weapon. Basil E. Smith, 55, Brenda J. Smith, 59, and Michael G. Wescott, 38, were each charged with multiple counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance both of which are felonies as well as seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. The three offenders were indicted in Stillwater Town Court and later were transferred to Saratoga County Jail and where they were held without bail. The investigation is on going as police continue to determine any additional charges. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, the New York State Police CNET Capital and SORT units, and Saratoga County Probation assisted the Stillwater Police Department in the investigation.
