Jordan Wilcox
Saratoga Springs • Senior • HB/LB
Jordan Wilcox has helped the Blue Streaks get off to a hot 3-0 start with 346 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. The three year starter and two year varsity captain failed to break 100 in last week’s game against Colonie for the first time this season, but he had a 20-yard pick six and was part of a safety on defense. “Jordan provides a lot for us,” Saratoga Springs head football coach Terry Jones said. “He does everything the right way. He works hard in the offseason and he works hard leading by example.” Prior to the Colonie game, Wilcox broke out for 190 yards on the ground with two touchdowns against rival Ballston Spa. He’s currently averaging 12.8 yards per carry.
Katie Benson
Shenendehowa • Junior • MF
Katie Benson has helped lead Shenendehowa to a first place standing in the Suburban Council North Division with five goals and two assists this month. One of those goals came this past week in the second half of Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Niskayuna when Benson scored on a penalty kick. The win was Shen’s first over Niskayuna sine 2011. “She’s been consistently on the entire season so far,” Shen head girls soccer coach Holli Nirsberger said. “She’s had several goals and has been assisting and creating plays, creating opportunities for other people. She’s just so dynamic. She’s a true athlete. She’s just as fast with the ball at her feet, which makes her really dynamic as a scorer for us. She’s fun to watch.”
