Tonko Launches Inaugural“Valentines for Vets” Initiative
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Congressman Paul Tonko launched his inaugural “Valentines for Vets” initiative this week, inviting students and all other members of the Capital Region community to mail or drop off cards to his district offices in Albany and Saratoga Springs to deliver to local veterans and those who serve them this Valentine’s Day.
“Across our nation, millions of veterans have shown their love and devotion to the United States of America by putting their lives on the line to defend our values, our country, and all those who call it home,” Tonko said, in a statement. “Now, I’m thrilled to launch this new initiative to allow members of our community to show their own love and gratitude for the sacrifices our veterans have made. I encourage students and all residents of our Capital Region to participate in this program and help give our veterans the appreciation they deserve.”
Tonko and his team are reaching out directly to schools and community groups across the Capital Region to coordinate this effort. Once collected, the cards delivered to Tonko’s offices will be delivered to local veterans for Valentine’s Day.
Participants are asked to mail or drop off their Valentine’s Day cards locally at Congressman Tonko’s Saratoga Springs office, located at 433 Broadway, Suite 201.
To ensure timely delivery, mailed cards should be postmarked no later than Friday, Feb. 7. Cards delivered in person to Congressman Tonko’s offices should be dropped off no later than Thursday, February 13.
