Christkindlmark
Held in Lake George at the Glens Falls City Park with vendors, holiday friends, live music, activities, food and drink. The event takes place under heated tents in the heart of downtown Glens Falls on Friday, Dec. 3, 4-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5, from 11-4 p.m.

Ballston Spa Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting
The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association’s annual Ballston Spa Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting takes place Friday, December 3.  The parade step off time is 6:30 p.m., proceeding on Milton Avenue and ending in Wiswall Park on Front Street with Santa lighting the village Christmas tree. The parade is a hometown-style holiday tradition, with fire trucks, floats, animals, kids and Santa parading down the main street of the village.  Once again, this year, the parade will spotlight the Toys for Tots campaign, in partnership with the Ballston Spa Community Emergency Corps, Saratoga County Sheriff Department and U.S. Marine Corps.  Volunteers from these organizations will be on hand to collect donations of new, unwrapped toys from spectators along the parade route as well as at the tree lighting.

Holiday Sale
The Old Saratoga Reformed Church, located at Pearl and Burgoyne Streets in Schuylerville, will be having a Holiday Sale on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 8 a.m.  – 2 p.m.  New and gently used Christmas items will be available, including decorations and collectables. Holiday Craft & Vendor Fair
To be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge, 1 Elks Lane, Saratoga Springs. Admission is free. There will be 35 crafters and vendors displaying their wares for your shopping convenience.  We will also offer raffles and food.  Please come and enjoy holiday shopping and support the local Elks Fundraiser. 

“Great Train Extravaganza” Giant Model Train Show 
The original and largest model train event in the Capitol Region will be held on Dec. 5 at the Empire State Convention Center from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults, children under 12 are free. 300+ tables: model trains, parts, train sets, buildings, craftsman kits, accessories, electronics, scenery, books, DVDs, prints, railroad memorabilia. Christmas Pop-up Shop

Jane McCrea: A Revolutionary Martyr and an Early American Family Story
December 14 at Brookside Museum, 6 Charlton St., Ballston Spa, at 7 p.m. Learn about Jane McCrea with Blake Grindon, Ph.D. candidate at Princeton University.  She will explore and examine the life and legacy of Jean McCrea. Best remembered as the focus of anti-Indian and anti-British Patriot propaganda that followed her death during the Saratoga Campaign in 1777, further investigation reveals her role in an interconnected world of colonial wars and Native politics stretching back long before the American Revolution. This will be a virtual event as part of the Expert Next Door series via Zoom. 

Galway Photography Club
These meetings, held on the last Wednesday of each month, provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for those interested in photography to share their photographs and learn how to improve their skills. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no November monthly meeting. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Galway Public Library. At this meeting club member Maria Goldsmith will be speaking about photographs from her portfolio and members of the group will be sharing their photographs from our recent photo walk at Camp Brookledge. Members will be exhibiting throughout the area over the next two months. Main Street, Mechanicville. The Zion Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, will host four artists, Cheryl Birmingham, Carol Winterton, Rita Helie and Jack Morgan. Holiday Craft Marketplace
Held at the Saratoga Springs City Center on November 27 from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The Holiday Craft Marketplace will benefit Saratoga Center for the Family for the 46th year. Shop over 100 local crafters. Local crafters and artisans will be showcasing their homemade items, from beautiful woodwork to handmade jewelry, from scented candles to holiday cards & decor! Bring your shopping bags and be ready to fill them with unique gifts for your loved ones or yourself! Masks required.

21st Annual Artisan Market
The beloved “Artisan Market” at Brookside Museum will be November 27 through December 24. The market will feature only handcrafted products created by local artisans.  Everything from natural soaps and lotions to unique ornaments and jewelry to delicious syrups and edibles.  A unique shopping experience and a variety of items that makes holiday shopping simple, plus each item sold supports both the Saratoga County History Center and local artisans. Brookside Museum is located at 6 Charlton St, Ballston Spa. Hours as follows: Thursdays, 12 – 5 p.m., Fridays, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturdays, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sundays, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Face coverings are required during your visit. Lake George’s Festival of Lights
Takes place along Canada Street in Lake George from November 27 – December 31. Visitors and locals alike can get in the holiday spirit by enjoying decorated storefronts on Canada Street and a huge light display in Shepard’s Park in Lake George. There is no cost to enjoy the lights. The festival also features several standout events which are ticketed: Royal Snow Sisters Holiday Princess Show, Ha-Ha-Holiday Comedy Show, a Holiday Artisan Market, and live family-friendly music. Heroic Handel! Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus
On Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. Saratoga Voices will perform a semi-staged version of Handel’s oratorio, Judas Maccabaeus at the newly renovated Universal Preservation Hall. To perform two of the lead rolls, Saratoga Voices has engaged the talent of two internationally renowned vocal artists with strong dramatic experience. Tenor Thomas Cooley sings the title role of Judas Maccabaeus and baritone Jesse Blumberg sings the equally heroic role of Simon, the brother of Judas. Tickets for Heroic Handel! Monthly Fundraiser Dinner 
The monthly dinner will be held on November 19 at Principessa Elena Society, 11-13 Oak St., Saratoga Springs, 5 – 7 p.m. The funds raised will benefit the building fund. Steamed Brown Bread and Bake Sale 
Simpson United Methodist Church, 1089 Rock City Rd., Rock City Falls (.4 mi south of Route 29) is hosting their famous Steamed Brown Bread and Bake Sale on November 20. To be held On Saturday, November 13 at the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, located at 175 Fifth Ave., Saratoga Springs, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. New York state approved. Save 10% on your base auto insurance for the next three years & receive up to 4 points off your driving record according to New York State Department of Motor Vehicle guidelines. Fee: $35 per person. Holiday Indoor Craft & Garage Sale 
On Sunday, November 14, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. the popular Elks Ladies Auxiliary Indoor Craft and Garage Sale at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Club on Elks Lane will hold an extra monthly sale for holiday shopping.  Admission is free with over 40 vendors; parking is great, bargains galore, and lunch. Household items, sports equipment, hand-made items, clothing, fabrics, jewelry, party vendors, pet supplies, food treats, soaps, body lotions, and just about anything you can imagine. Collecting Political Memorabilia
On Monday, November 15 at 7 p.m., the Saratoga County History Roundtable will present a program on “Collecting Political Memorabilia” by Bill McPherson at the Saratoga County History Center at Brookside Museum, 6 Charlton Street, Ballston Spa. Mr. McPherson will bring portions of his collection, which is concentrated on 19th and early 20th century Presidents and electoral campaigns, the issue of the 8-hour day, and suffrage, as well as political material that has a regional or local flavor. Holiday Shopping Day
The Adirondack Folk School, located at 51 Main St, Lake Luzerne, will host an on-site Holiday Shopping Day on Saturday, Nov. 6, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. A selection of ornaments, icicles, cards, soaps, advent calendars, wooden boxes, scarves, hats, frames, jewelry, candles, wreaths, nightlights, quilted items, and other sweet things. Dining with Diabetes
A program for people with diabetes or prediabetes and their family members is being sponsored by the Saratoga Springs Public Library via Zoom, Mondays, November 8, 15 & 22 at 11 am. No fee. Galway Photography Club 
Next meeting will be held on Oct. 27 at the Galway Public Library, located at 2112 East St, Village of Galway, 6 p.m. These monthly meetings provide a safe, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere for those interested in photography to share their photographs and learn how to improve their technical and artistic skills. The focus is to promote the practice of using native plants in landscapes to preserve biodiversity in the area. The first Wild Ones presentation will be held on October 17 at 2 p.m. Master Gardener Martie Teumim will give a presentation through Zoom on ‘Gathering Native Plant Seeds from Your Own Backyard.’ She will show you how to harvest, save, and plant native seeds found in your own backyard. St Paul’s Lutheran Church Annual Garage Sale
St. Paul’s annual yard sale will take place Saturday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., 149 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. The sale will benefit Missions to address food insecurity, homelessness, and assistance to missionaries overseas. Accepting item donations. We accept most items, except TV’s, electronics and clothing. Drop off donations at the church Friday, Oct. 8, from 4 – 8 p.m. A separate table at the sale will be for non-perishable food item donations. 

Apple Pie Social
The Wilton Heritage Society’s annual Apple Pie Social will take place on Sunday, Oct. 10, between 1-4 p.m. The Wilton Heritage Museum is located at 5 Parkhurst Rd., Wilton. There is a $5 donation per slice of pie with cheese. Curbside pickup only.  This year’s pies will be baked by Smith’s Orchard Bake Shop.  Whole pies may be available for purchase after 3 p.m., based on availability.

Ghostly Spooks Luncheon

Champlain Canal Tour 
Come walk in the foot prints of the canallers and mules who worked the Canal in Waterford! The Canal, in operation from 1823-1918, made Waterford an important transportation hub for almost a century. The Saratoga County History Roundtable is sponsoring this one-mile walking tour on Friday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. led by Waterford Town Historian Russ VanDervoort who will share the stories of the trials and tribulations of those who made their living on the canal. Trunk or Treat at Simpson UMC

Saratoga County Stories
