Holiday Craft Fair and Bake Sale

Genealogy and Local History

Heritage Hunters will meet Saturday, November 15, at 1 p.m. at the Town of Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St. in Schuylerville. Kathy Craine, a former National Park Service employee, will offer a visual walk-through of the immigration processing at Ellis Island with images from the National Archives, the Library of Congress and the National Park Service. Kathy will guide us through changes made to both the island and buildings to accommodate the flow of immigrants at the busiest port of entry in the United States. About 12 million people arrived between 1892 and 1954. Public is welcome to the program. For info call 518-885-9309. 

Operation Toy Train

Operation Toy Train will be arriving to Greenfield for an official kick-off to the holiday season and this year’s Greenfield “TOGether Gift Drive.” Santa & Mrs. Claus will be joined by Buddy the Elf, some local leaders and other friends on a Saratoga Corinth & Hudson holiday train that will make a stop at 101 Canty Rd. in Greenfield at 2 p.m. on November 15. The event is free and should last approximately 45 minutes. Cocoa and cookies will be distributed and there will be plenty of opportunities to take photos. When the train arrives, a boxcar will open to reveal the local band Rustic Spirit and a short concert. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Veterans Stand-Down

Free haircut, medical/dental screening, veterans’ benefits, food, clothing, toiletries, housing assistance, financial assistance and much more. Sunday, November 16 at Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge, 1 Elks Lane, Saratoga Springs, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. This event is for all veterans, veteran networking and the community that supports veterans. Saratoga Bridges to Host Blood Drive

Saratoga Bridges will be hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, November 19, from Noon to 5 p.m. Donations will take place in the second-floor conference room at their administrative building at 16 Saratoga Bridges Blvd., Ballston Spa. Soroptimist International of Saratoga 

Community members are invited to an Information Hour to learn how the organization empowers women and girls through education and opportunity. Attendees will meet members, hear about local and global projects, and discover ways to get involved. Saratoga Springs will host its 11th year on its pop culture comic con platform on November 22-23. Growing larger, also expanding into the Hilton Hotel attached to the Saratoga Springs City Center! This holiday season, Opera Saratoga invites you to be swept away by the romance, laughter, and heartbreak of Puccini’s timeless masterpiece, “La bohème.” In this special staged concert, the Skidmore Chorus and members of the Excelsior Vocal Ensemble joins forces with the most exciting rising stars from the Juilliard School and the Metropolitan Opera to bring to life the unforgettable arias, soaring ensembles, and rich choral moments that have enchanted audiences for generations. Single tickets are on sale now. The concert will be held on December 5 at 7 p.m. at Universal Preservation Hall

Join us at St. Michaels Church of South Glens Falls on Friday, November 7 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a wonderful Holiday Craft Show.  There will be over 50 crafters, raffle baskets, a bake sale and cafe.  Santa Clause is also going to be there for the children to visit. Join us for Pumpkin Smash — recycle your seasonal pumpkins and gourds with our Community Compost program’s vertical drum system. Dan Navarro Concert

The concert will be held with Jesse Lynn Madera on November 8 at Caffe Lena at 8 p.m.  followed by a songwriter’s workshop on November 9 at 1 p.m. Songwriting and the Creative Muse – a three-hour workshop with Dan Navarro, covering the foundations of creativity through songwriting, including song structures, storytelling and thematic arc, complexity vs simplicity and other useful concepts to hone and enhance your creativity. Monthly Indoor Craft and Garage Sale

Sunday, November 9, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. This popular Sale will be held at the Saratoga Wilton Lodge at 1 Elk Lane. Admission is free. Over 40 vendors; great parking, bargains galore. Lunch is available.  Just about anything you can imagine might be offered: lightly used children’s toys and lots of Christmas craft items. 2025 Baskets for Ben

Pumpkins are frosty, football season’s here, and the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund Angels are busy creating baskets and you’re invited to attend! Held at the Queensbury VFW Post 6196 on Friday, October 24. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. to a Silent Auction featuring baskets of gifts for your home, car, entertainment, overnight accommodations, sports, art, foods, spirits, crafted goods, golf packages, store and restaurant gift cards, beauty and spa items and a Monahan Firepit. The gifts are donated by the very kind hearts of our region who support Ben’s Fund & desire to help our local kids in need. All proceeds benefit Ben’s Fund, a regional 501-C3 charitable organization with no administrative costs, created in loving memory of CPL Benjamin D. Osborn of Queensbury.

Southern Saratoga Art Society 28th Annual Autumn Jewels Show

Surrender Day Bus Tour

The Saratoga250 Commission invites the public to a guided bus tour commemorating the 248th anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga on Friday, October 17, at 1 p.m. The tour begins at the Champlain Canal Region Gateway Visitors Center and visits key Revolutionary War sites, including Freeman’s Farm, Bemis Heights, the Saratoga Monument, and the Sword Surrender Site. Annual Genealogy Conference

Heritage Hunters Annual Genealogy Conference will be held Saturday, October 18 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St., in Schuylerville. Presenters will be professional genealogists Robert Cameron Weir in the morning and Lisa Dougherty following lunch. Robert will speak on “Artificial Intelligence for Genealogists” and “10 Genealogical Brick Walls You Will Face.”  Lisa’s topics will be “Tips and Tricks for Using Ancestry.com” and “My Ancestry Tree is a mess.” The cost is $25 for members and $40 for non-members, which includes a discounted 14-month membership. Gateway Annual Yard Sale Donations

Donations for Gateway House of Peace’s Annual Yard Sale will be accepted starting Monday, September 15 through September 23 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at 479 Rowland St., Ballston Spa. Donations accepted must be in ready-to-sell condition. Donations in bad condition take volunteer time, and cost for dumpster removal. Sale dates are Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed on drop off and sale days to direct traffic, manage donations, assisting customers with purchases and final clean up. 4th Annual Saratoga County Family Fishing Contest

Yaddo Open House

Yaddo will host a public tour of its historic Mansion and grounds on Saturday, September 27. Tours will be offered at 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4 p.m., each lasting approximately 90 minutes. Guests will explore the Mansion’s first and second floors, West House, Greenhouse Studios, and Saratoga Studio. Tours will run rain or shine, covering varied outdoor terrain and indoor spaces, including stairs. Tickets range from $75–$85 depending on the time selected. All proceeds directly support residencies for artists shaping the future of literature, visual art, music, performance, and beyond. Volunteers are welcome to help bring this special event to life. Historical Encounters Tour

Take this unique opportunity to experience Mount McGregor as it was in the Victorian Era. Meet characters from the past who will immerse you in their world as they bring to life the history of the mountain. Tour includes interaction with multiple historic characters on the historic site grounds, the historic cottage and the visitor center. Tours will run approximately 40-45 minutes. Spin Doctors Charity Benefit Concert

This one-of-a-kind event brings together live music, local flavor, and lasting impact in the peaceful setting of our horse farm. Every dollar raised helps care for retired racehorses in their second careers as healing partners for Veterans, children, families, and others in need of support. The Fall Antiques Festival

The Fall Antiques Festival at the Clifton Park Elks is back. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 28, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., 695 MacElroy Road, Ballston Lake. This was the former Lake Side Farms antiques show moved to the Clifton Park Elks site. After several years of hiatus, it is back. The event will include 60 dealers inside and outside, food by the Elks, a raffle, free admission and parking. Skidmore Encore

Skidmore Encore announces registration for its Fall 2025 lecture series delivered by the remarkable Skidmore College faculty for adult learners age 55+ from around the local region. Caffè Lena @ SPAC

A free day-long concert on Saturday, October 4 from noon to 5:30 p.m. Taking place on SPAC’s Charles R. Wood Stage, the festival will feature five bands that explore roots, global, bluegrass, pop, and indie-folk music including Misty Blues, Tom Chapin, Chatham County Line, Farah Siraj, and Aleksi Campagne. The festival highlights a unique, ongoing collaboration between the arts center and the folk music venue. Guests are welcome to bring in food, drink, blankets and lawn chairs for the concerts. Classic Car Cruise-In and Train Ride

Hosted by Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway, this fun-filled, family event brings together historic ALCO locomotives and classic cars.  Train rides have three departure times from Corinth Station, (9 Railroad Place, Corinth) to the car show, 11 AM, 12:40 PM and 2:10 PM. Tickets: $10 each for children (12 and under) and $15 for adults (13+).  Free parking at Corinth Station. Great food for purchase, rock n’ roll music, games and more! Classic Car owners receive one free train ticket per vehicle for the day of the event, September 20. Heritage Hunters

Saturday, September 20, 1:15 p.m. at the Saratoga Room in the Saratoga Springs Library. From rare books and photographs to maps, journals, family genealogies and manuscripts, the Saratoga Room offers a unique opportunity to explore the heritage and evolution of the region. (Due to repairs, access is by one flight of stairs.) Previous to the meeting, a visit will take place at 10 a.m. at the Saratoga Springs History Museum located in the Canfield Casino in Congress Park. Highlights of the museum include: a High Stakes Gaming Room, Walworth Family rooms, a First Saratogians exhibit and an immersive journey through the Gilded Age. Public is welcome for both events. All These Growing Things

An open house and public reception on September 12 at The Tang Museum, Skidmore College, 815 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, 3 – 8 p.m. This is a yearlong exhibition of contemporary and historical paintings, prints, textiles, photography, and sculpture from the Tang Museum collection that explores questions of becoming and belonging.  The exhibition raises compelling questions about how we experience and understand the world—now and in the future. Many of the works on view are recent acquisitions that are being exhibited at the museum for the first time. Free admission, no reservations required.

NatureFest

Saturday September 13, 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at Moreau Lake State Park.  Park entry fee waived.  Friends of Moreau Lake State Park will be hosting this fun-filled day of interactive nature-related activities which will include live animals, educational booths, rescue organizations, wagon rides and music.  Fun crafts and activities for the kids like birdhouse building, face painting, pumpkin painting and much more.  The Friends Group will have food, baked goods and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the non-profit’s support of the park, through various educational programs and other activities.   Visit our website:  https://friendsofmoreaulake.org for more information.

Drive-Thru Chicken Barbecue

The Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Avenue in Saratoga is hosting a drive-thru chicken BBQ dinner on Saturday, September 13 from 4 – 6 p.m.  Cost is a free-will donation. Come join us!

Adult Fitness Opportunities 

The Ballston Spa CSD Adult Fitness Program is offering two adult fitness opportunities starting in September 2025. Adult Fitness Soccer on Tuesdays and Adult Fitness Basketball on Wednesdays. Both programs will run from 7 – 9 p.m. Each program includes a 10-week session beginning September 16. There is a $45 registration fee for district residents. 5th Annual Tunnel to Towers Fundraiser

On Saturday, August 30 the annual benefit will be held at 2117 Barrett Rd. in Ballston Spa at 6 p.m. The benefit will include a comedy show by Colin Quinn, live music by Skippy and The Pistons, food and exciting raffles.  Tickets are $75 per person (including 1 raffle ticket). Southern Saratoga Art Society Exhibits

Artists and members of SSAS will be exhibiting throughout the area during August.  Landscape artist Frank Coletta will be showing a collection of his new drawings and paintings.  His artworks depict the beauty of the Hudson River Valley.   Mr. Coletta is known for his ability to capture the beauty of the iconic geography of the Adirondack area. He will be exhibiting at the Clifton Park Senior Community Center, 6 Clifton Common Blvd. Clifton Park. Cheryl Jenks is exhibiting at the Mechanicville Library, 190 N. Main Street, Artist David Mayack is exhibiting at the Town of Clifton Park Lobby, 1 Town Hall Plaza, Clifton Park and Artists Pat Posillico, Pam Malson, Anup Sood and Denise Kornak are exhibiting at Bella Lucias, 1218 Rte 146, Clifton Park. 

Dine to Donate

Gateway House of Peace is holding a Dine to Donate event at the Speckled Pig Brewing Co., 11-13 Washington Street, Ballston Spa on Thursday, September 4 from 5 – 9 p.m. A portion of the sales from this evening will be donated to support Gateway’s mission of providing end-of-life care for those in our community. Gateway House provides for those who have been diagnosed as terminally ill and have less than three months to live. Gateway provides free 24-hour comfortable care for those who cannot stay safely at home. No insurance or public funding is received. Gateway relies on fundraising and public support.

Meet the Breeds

This event gives dog lovers the unique opportunity to meet with more than 25 different breeds. Learn about each breed’s historical purpose/function, traits, and attributes as a family pet, all while learning about responsible dog ownership and which breeds may be right for your family. Meet with local canine businesses including trainers and veterinarians. There will be trainer demos, concessions, and free dog treats while they last. 15th Annual Curtis Lumber Car and Truck Show

Join us at Curtis Lumber located at 885 State Route 67, Ballston Spa Sunday, on September 7, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for a fun, family-friendly day at one of the largest car and truck shows in the Capital Region. 12th Annual Sarcoma Strong 5K Run/Walk

August 9, beginning at 9 a.m. at Saratoga Spa State Park, to raise awareness of Sarcoma, a cancer found in connective tissues, bones, cartilage, fatty tissue, and muscles. As a rare cancer, research funding is hard to come by and events like this 5k Run/Walk help and raise critical funds for sarcoma research. Parking for the event will be available in Spa Little Theater and Saratoga Auto Museum lots. Registration is open at www.sarcomastrong.com/run. T-shirts are available for the first 300 registrants for the in-person event. All proceeds from the event will be used towards sarcoma cancer research.

Broadway Stars Drama Camp

Town of Malta Parks and Recreation announces there are still a few openings in Broadway Stars Drama Camp on the Malta Community Center Stage, 1 Bayberry Drive, Malta NY 12020 with Elyse Young, Artistic Director.  Camp is for ages 6-10 and runs from 1 -3 p.m.; Monday, August 11 – Friday, August 14. Learn musical numbers from Broadway shows, complete with scene work, costumes and simple choreography! Camp includes theater games, crafts, acting exercises and performance on the last day! 2025 Fire Feast

A vibrant, open-air gathering to celebrate our regional food system and the community that makes it possible. Taking place on Thursday, August 14 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Pitney Meadows Community Farm, located at 223 West Ave., Saratoga Springs. This year’s feast will be crafted by Farmstead Catering at Echo Farm. All ingredients will be sourced directly from the fields of Pitney Meadows and Echo Farm, ensuring a meal that is not only seasonal and sustainable but also deeply rooted in place. Guests will enjoy a multi-course, live-fire meal prepared by a team of dedicated farm-to-table chefs, along with live music, local libations, and a silent auction. Summer Wonders Reception

79B Beekman St., Saratoga Springs | 5 – 8 p.m. A summer kids art exhibition showcasing the artwork from students in our Kids Summer Art Program. Our summer program supports young artists from ages 6-14 through a Choice-Based/TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) approach. With this philosophy we emphasize that the child is the artist, and the classroom is their studio! Kids can explore materials and ideas that interest them, encouraging experimentation and curiosity. Come experience the artwork in person and see the amazing creativity of our students! Hours on Saturday, August 16 are 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

2025 Horse Farm Tour 

On Saturday August 16, Saratoga County Cornell Cooperative Extension is partnering with horse farms in Saratoga County for the Annual Horse Farm Tour. This is a free opportunity for the public to visit and learn about the horse industry in the county. The farms are located across Saratoga County from Schuylerville to Galway. The participating farms include Mill Creek Farm, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, Saratoga Glen Farm, Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga, Alliance 180, Cross Timbers Ranch, and DeLuca Equine. Celebrate Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday

The Jane Austen Society of North America Capital Region invites you to join a weekend retreat at the Wiawaka Center for Women on Lake George August 15 – 17. Special guest is Molly Williams who will discuss her new illustrated book, “Jane Austen’s Garden: A Botanical Tour of the Classic Novels.”  Other activities include a reception with Regency-style treats and drinks, games and amusements and Regency dance lessons and ball. An original theater production, “Jane Austen Spills the Tea with Lena and Laura,” and a two-act drama, “Persuasion” rounds out the events.
