Saratoga Race Course Tours

In celebration of the Belmont Stakes, the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to offer two exclusive behind-the-scenes walking tours of the historic Saratoga Race Course, Friday, June 6 at 9:30 a.m. or Sunday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m. A rare opportunity to explore the oldest and one of the most iconic sporting venues in the United States. Led by the Foundation’s Executive Director, Samantha Bosshart, this special walking tour will take participants through both the public and lesser-known sides of the race course. Tours begin at the Whitney Viewing Stand at the Oklahoma Training Track. Tickets are $35 for SSPF members and $45 for non-members. Reservations are required and space is limited. 16th Annual Route 50 Mile Road Race

CAPTAIN Community Human Services is proud to present the 16th Annual Route 50 Mile on Thursday, June 12, kicking off at the corner of Route 50 and Kingsley in Burnt Hills at 6:50 p.m. This special anniversary year will also see the Route 50 Mile as part of the USATF Adirondack 2025 Grand Prix Series. This family-friendly community event is the area’s premier one-mile race and is followed immediately by the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Business and Professional Association Flag Day Parade. The proceeds benefit CAPTAIN CHS’s over 30 programs for local kids, families, and seniors. Registration begins at $20. Sponsorship is currently available. The White Party Presents Moonlight & Magic Gala

Father’s Day Kids’ Fishing Derby

The location will be held at the fraternal order of Eagles # 2586, 373 Crescent Ave., Saratoga Springs on Lake Lonely, Sunday, June 15, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. It’s open to kids 14 and under, all of whom must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Worms will be supplied, but kids should bring their own fishing poles and tackle. The derby includes free hot dogs, chips, and sodas; as well as prizes for fish caught in different categories.

Craft Fair at Brookside – Vendors Wanted!

The Fate of the Day

Northshire Bookstore & Saratoga, America’s Turning Point, are thrilled to present an evening with Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Rick Atkinson, in celebration of The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780, the second volume of his landmark American Revolution trilogy. Atkinson will discuss the book and his work with Joe Donahue of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. Bingo Fundraiser

Cancer can rob someone of happiness. A small gesture of giving a gift to a patient who is at the end of their rope is our goal.    “A Night Out For You” is a customized experience that will bring them joy and allow patients to have something to look forward to and forget their diagnosis for a few hours.  Please help us keep giving these patients a night out by donating to or attending the Bingo Fundraiser to be held on Sunday, June 1, at the Saratoga Wilton Elks Club. Festival of Young Artists 

A free community festival on Sunday, June 1 from 2 – 5:30 p.m. Following the theme Wonder – inspired by the work of 24th U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón – the festival will celebrate the collaborative creativity of more than 700 of the Capital Region’s brightest young dancers, musicians, singers, poets, and visual artists in support of SPAC’s mission to provide free and accessible arts programming for local youth. Featuring students from local schools and organizations, the afternoon will include individual pop-up performances and art displays, culminating in a large-scale, coordinated production on stage. As part of the production, original musical composition by festival student, Siyi Guo (Guilderland HS, Grade 12), will premiere on the stage, performed by the ESYO Symphony Orchestra. St. Clement’s Church will host the blood drive with the American Red Cross on Friday, May 16 from Noon – 5 p.m. at the church’s Parish Center, located at 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. 11th Annual Fundraising Gala 

Gateway House of Peace is excited to announce The Butterfly Ball, to be held on Friday, May 16, 6 – 10 p.m. It will be held at the Bright Family’s historic barn at Twin Leaf Farm in Greenfield Center. Community Day Celebration

The Town of Greenfield holds its first Community Day Celebration on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Middle Grove Park, located at 428 Middle Grove Rd. The event, described as a “red, white and blue barbecue,” will feature special commemorative, “TOG Better TOGether” t-shirts for $15. Sponsors will be listed on the back. Composting Workshop

North Country Wild Care’s 2025 Fundraising Gala

Spring has sprung and our kitchen is, once again, steaming up just in time for Mothers’ Day!  Simpson United Methodist Church is having our semi-annual Brown Bread & Bake Sale. Malta Armed Forces Day Parade

Set to take place on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. on Rt 9 in Malta. This vibrant event will bring together residents, first responders, businesses, military members and veterans to celebrate. The race will kick off at 2540 State Rt 9 and travel south through the roundabout. It will then travel north on Rt 9 concluding at the Malta Community Center. Attendees can expect a spectacular lineup featuring marching bands, colorful floats, classic cars and smiling faces. The parade is free and open to the public. Join us before the parade for the Annual Malta Mile Road race. Celebrate The Art of Quilting

The Wings Falls Quilters Guild invites the community to “Celebrate The Art of Quilting” on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maplewood Parkway Methodist Church in South Glens Falls. This event will showcase a variety of quilts created by guild members, highlighting both traditional and modern quilting techniques. Free Concert

Composting Workshop

The Presbyterian-United Church of Christ invites the public to a workshop on composting as well as a potluck lunch at noon on Sunday, May 4. The event is part of the church’s ongoing commitment to sustainable environmental practices. Music for an Adirondack Spring 

Music for an Adirondack Spring arrives on May 4 at 3 p.m. with the Saratoga Chamber Players’ concert at the United Methodist Church, 175 Fifth Avenue. Musicians will include Jill Levy, violin; Rosemary Nelis, viola; Ashley Bathgate, cello; and Andrius Žlabys, piano/composer.  This will be a rare chance to hear Žlabys perform his own “Echoes of Light” for solo piano and explain the inspiration for the work, an homage to Mozart.  Also, on the program are works of Haydn, Franck, and Brahms. Sunnyside Garden Party supports Secret Gardens Tour

Socialize and shop for Mother’s Day and for yourself, at the Secret Gardens Kick-Off Garden Party on Thursday, May 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sunnyside Gardens, 345 Church St., Saratoga Springs. This annual event is free and open to the public, featuring wine and nibbles courtesy of Sunnyside, a host of chock-full raffle baskets, and background music provided by Phil Drum. The party celebrates and supports Soroptimists of Saratoga County’s upcoming 30th Secret Gardens Tour, which will feature nine gardens in Saratoga Springs on Sunday, June 29. Open Mic Coffee House

Volunteer Tree Planters are needed to help plant trees in the community. Volunteers will check in at Pitney Meadows Community Farm between 9 – 9:30 a.m. to get a lesson in tree planting before heading off in small teams to their assigned locations across the city. Genealogy and Local History

Heritage Hunters will meet Saturday, April 19, at 1 p.m. at the Town of Saratoga Town Hall, 12 Spring St. in Schuylerville. Beverwcyk Archaeologists, Aaron Gore and Daniel Mazeau, will talk about their work on the Bevier-Elting House that was built in the 1730s on Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz. Care for your Cemetery Day

The Ballston Spa Village Cemetery is participating in the statewide program to solicit volunteers to help clean up their hometown cemeteries. This event is scheduled for Saturday April 26, beginning at 9 a.m. The many tasks include raking, brush cutting, trimming, seeding, etc. Volunteers are urged to bring gloves, rakes, clippers, loppers, shovels, etc. Also, there are many flush mounted veteran’s markers that are partially covered with sod or soil.
