Meet Oreo!

Oreo is a big fellow with an even bigger heart. He is so sweet and wants a lap to call his own. His owner had to go into long-term care and unfortunately the family was allergic. He had been living in the empty home for a few weeks, and someone would come feed him and give him attention. Because of this, he is eager for pets and companionship. He will be your best friend. He is roughly 10 years old (but definitely doesn’t look or act it), is up to date on vaccines and is declawed. We recently had senior blood work done and he is as healthy as can be. Come meet Oreo and see if he is a perfect fit for you!

Meet Looney Tunes

Looney Tunes has only known one owner- her 96 year old mom who unfortunately had to change living situations that would not allow her to bring her kitty. She was obviously confused at first but has really blossomed in her foster home. She is sweet and purrs when she is pet. She needs a quiet home with no other pets or young children. Looney Tunes would be a great addition for the person who is missing that something special in their home. She is also an expert at following her person from room to room, so you will always have a buddy with you. She is 8 years old, up to date on her vaccines and is microchipped. DUE TO HER FOSTER MOM STARTING A NEW JOB AND RELOCATING, SHE WILL NEED AN ADOPTER OR NEW FOSTER BEFORE 1/23/25.

Online foster and adoption applications can be found on the HOPE website at www.hopeanimalrescue.org. For any questions give us a call at 518-450-7013.

“Racing at the Dawn of the United States” Exhibition Opens at Racing Museum

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Coinciding with the United States of America’s national celebration of the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will mark the occasion with a special exhibition, Racing at the Dawn of the United States. The exhibition opens Saturday, Jan. 10 at the Museum’s Link Gallery.

The exhibition explores the foundation of thoroughbred racing in America from the colonial period to the emergence of the United States as a new republic in the early 19th century. The exhibition will invite visitors to learn about the early history of the sport, highlighting key figures, racecourses, and horses of the time. It will feature selections from the Museum’s collection and will be enhanced with loans from Keeneland Library and other collections.

The exhibition will be open through December.

BALLSTON SPA — Stewart’s 40th annual Holiday Match campaign raised more than $1.8 million to support local children’s charities, the company announced on Dec. 29.

Stewart’s customers donated more than $900,000 during this year’s campaign.

Stewart’s doubled every donation and there were no administrative fees.

This means hundreds of nonprofit organizations that benefit children in New York and Vermont will receive support from the 2025 Holiday Match campaign.

Since Holiday Match began in 1986, the program has raised more than $40 million to support organizations focused on improving the lives of children.

Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for Holiday Match funds are encouraged to apply online by Jan. 31st

Meet Boots!

Boots is a sweet, quiet girl who is currently living as an indoor–outdoor cat with an older small dog. She has been around many foster pups over time, but she’s quite timid when meeting new animals and prefers a calm, predictable environment.

Originally abandoned by her previous owner, Boots is now being cared for temporarily by someone who, unfortunately, cannot keep her long-term. She has never lived with other cats, so we recommend she find a home where she can possibly be the only feline friend.

Boots loves affection on her own terms—she soaks up attention when she wants it and then enjoys curling up in a cozy hiding spot for her alone time. She’s a gentle, sweet girl who would thrive in a quiet home with a patient adopter who will let her personality shine.

Boots is a Courtesy Post.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting her, please contact the HOPE Pet Adoption Center at 518-450-7013 for more information.

More than 1,000 Brave Cold for Knox Fest

SCHUYLERVILLE — On Dec. 13, more than 1,000 people braved frigid temperatures to attend Knox Fest at Fort Hardy Park. The celebration honored Henry Knox’s Noble Train of Artillery, a daring winter journey that helped change the course of the American Revolution.

The event included horse-and-carriage rides, food trucks with coffee and hot cocoa, living historians, reenactors singing period songs, live musket and cannon firings, a Henry Knox reenactor, and a bonfire.

“This day was a powerful reminder that history isn’t just remembered — it’s lived, shared, and celebrated,” said Battles of Saratoga 250. “Thank you to everyone who braved the cold, volunteered, participated, and supported this unforgettable day. History is alive — and Saratoga continues to lead the way.”

Meet Baby Girl

Baby Girl came to us with her buddy, Tut, after her owner passed away. The two kitties don’t seem to be bonded and she seems to be a little bossy. She definitely does not enjoy visits from the other kitties at the center. Because of this, she will probably do best as an only kitty in a quieter home. Baby Girl is about 7 years old, loves to chat and is an expert pet receiver.  Baby Girl is ready to find her forever home with someone who will have daily conversations with her and give her all of the attention she demands.

The HOPE Pet Adoption Center is located in Wilton Mall and is open to the public Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 11-4 or by appointment. Online adoption applications can be found online at www.hopeanimalrescue.org.

Public Meeting To Be Held Regarding Proposed Project at Route 50/Northline Road

BALLSTON SPA — The Saratoga County Department of Public Works (DPW) and CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) will hold a Public Informational Meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Saratoga County Fire Training Center (6010 County Farm Rd, Ballston Spa) regarding the proposed NYS Route 50 (Doubleday Avenue) at Northline Road (County Route 45) Intersection Improvement Project in the Town of Milton.

Individuals in attendance will be given the opportunity to ask questions and provide oral and/or written comments about the project. Representatives of CHA and the County will be available to discuss details of the project one-on-one.

Project goals are to enhance traffic flow, improve the safety of the intersection, and to upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities. CHA is evaluating options to achieve these goals. Options include replacing the intersection with a two-lane roundabout, sidewalks, and shared-use paths through the intersection or retaining the existing traffic signal and modifying the lane configuration, adding turn lanes on all approaches.

Construction of this project is scheduled for completion in 2027.  This project is 80% federal and 20% county funded.

This meeting is part of ongoing efforts by Saratoga County to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.

For more information regarding the public informational meeting, please contact CHA at (518) 453-8291 or EricWilliams@chasolutions.com.
