Meet Penny and Pearl

We come across a lot of amazing kittens at an animal rescue, but sometimes kittens create an immeasurable mark on your heart. That is how it is with sister’s Penny and Pearl. They were rescued from a difficult situation and through it all have been nothing but sweet and cuddly. After their spay appointment and coming off of the anesthesia, they were the loudest two kittens that I have ever encountered. We decided to put them together even though it is usually recommended to keep them apart for 24 hours. Once they were reunited, these two kittens instantaneously huddled together. This is why we need them to be adopted into a home where they will be together forever. As many are aware, having 2 kittens is so much easier than having one. Penny and Pearl are 4 months old, updated on vaccinations and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. They are patiently awaiting their forever home. Come visit them at HOPE (Homes for Orphaned Pets Exist) located in the Wilton Mall near the Saratoga Hospital entrance. We are open to the public Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 11-4 or by appointment. Adoption applications can be found at www.hopeanimalrescue.org

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Fillies on Phila, a wood-fired pizza restaurant that opened earlier this year, has announced some changes to its menus and hours.

According to the eatery’s Front of House Manager Angela LaBombard, starting Sept. 30, Fillies will be offering brunch Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.; there will be a new tailgating menu in effect during brunch; lunch will no longer be served on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the new opening time for those days will be 4 p.m.

The new tailgate menu will include calamari, deviled eggs, chili cheese nachos, wings, steamers, Philly cheesesteak bao buns, and more. The brunch menu will feature ricotta pancakes, brioche French toast, brunch smash burger, prime rib hash, breakfast enchiladas, and oven-baked frittata.

Fillies on Phila is one of a handful of new restaurants that either have opened or will open on Phila Street this year. Other additions include Standard Fare, Familiar Creature, and the forthcoming Noah’s Italian Chophouse. Filles is located at 39 Phila Street.

Meet Sylvester and Felix

Sylvester and Felix are roughly 3 & 1/2 months old and are just about the cutest kittens you can find. They purr as soon as they are picked up and love cuddles. They are typical kittens, in that they love to eat and play but will settle down once their bellies are full or they have tired themselves out. They have very sweet dispositions and will snuggle up with each other during nap time. They would be fantastic with children and with proper introduction would most likely be ok with dogs. They are vaccinated, neutered and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. The adoption fee for a bonded pair is $350 and the adoption application can be found at www.hopeanimalrescue.org. Sylvester and Felix are ready to find their forever home.

This program will take place on Friday, September 12, at 10:00 a.m. An environmental educator will guide the children on a brief walk at Camp Saratoga before the preschoolers and their parent/caregiver sit down to enjoy a butterfly-themed story time. Looking for a Home

NaeNae (Top Photo) & Oreo (Bottom Photo)

Oreo and NaeNae are bonded brothers who are roughly 10 years old.  They were surrendered to HOPE in December of 2024 because their family moved away and could not take them. They are happiest in a quiet home with someone to love, who will cherish them and give them the attention they deserve. Nae Nae is the more outgoing of the two and likes to explore. He loves being next to his person but also enjoys his laser toy, napping in the sun and greeting his foster mom’s visitors. He was born with a slight leg deformity but it does not cause him any pain and it does not slow him down. He loves to gaze out the window with his brother at the critters in the yard. Oreo is a little shyer than his brother but loves his catnip toys and scratching posts. He is as sweet as can be and prefers to nap on pillows. They both prefer a quieter home with no dogs and older, respectful children. Both are litter trained, fully vaccinated and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. They are losing their foster home soon and will not do well in a shelter setting.

Former Waldorf High School Becomes High-End Residences

Rendering of The Waldorf residences via Bonacio Construction.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Tudor-style building at 122 Regent Street that used to house the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs High School is being transformed into five high-end residences.

Bonacio Construction recently announced The Waldorf as its newest downtown Saratoga project. The 9,760 square-foot, two-story structure will include detached garages and carports, private entryways, terraces, and gardens. Each three-bedroom condo will feature quartz countertops, an elevated appliance package, a great room with coffered ceilings, and hardwood floors throughout with a herringbone pattern on the first floor. Prices for the units start at $2.2 million, with an expected fall 2025 occupancy. Construction is already underway.

Originally a carriage house for the Mabee family in the early 20th century, the property has also been used by Skidmore College and Verrazzano College.

A Big KUDOS

photo provided

After a long bout with Borrelia Lyme & anaplasmosis, Mary Beth Delarm decided to venture out for a night at the Parting Glass.

Upon returning home she realized she had left her expensive multi-stone turquoise bracelet on the table.

Luckily for her, Lily Curpier was on duty.

Mary Beth immediately returned to the Parting Glass and was greeted by Lily with a smile and her bracelet.

Great job Lily…Honesty IS the best policy!
