Election Day Preview: Meet the Candidates Running for Supervisor in the Town of Malta
Election season has come to Malta as two candidates face off for the position of Town Supervisor.
In this election, retired Ballston Spa teacher Timothy Moseman, a Republican, is facing off against incumbent Supervisor Cynthia Young, a democrat.
Here are their statements before election day.
Cynthia Young (Democrat) From her website
Cynthia Young and her husband, Doug, have been residents of the Town of Malta for nearly 40 years. In that time, Cynthia has been an active member of the community. She has served on the Town Council, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Board of Assessment Review, the Saratoga County Planning Board, the Master Plan Update Committee and the Malta Youth Commission. Cynthia currently is the Treasurer of the Malta Sunrise Rotary. She is also a former trustee on the Ballston Spa Education Foundation and the Brookside Museum.
As Supervisor, Cynthia’s priorities are to keep residents informed about what their town government is doing. She is also committed to protecting our open spaces, while managing the inevitable development pressures. She encourages residents to be involved and offer opinions on any matter.
“Democracy works best when the electorate is informed and encouraged to participate. Good decisions are made when many voices are heard.”
Timothy Moseman (Republican, Conservative, Vote Affordable)
My name is Tim Moseman, and I am asking for your support and vote for Malta Town Supervisor. I am running because I believe our town deserves leadership that puts residents first, protects our communities, and plans responsibly for the future.
As a lifelong Educator, I have spent my career serving others, listening to concerns, solving problems, and helping people succeed. I will bring the same commitment, common sense, and dedication to Town Hall.
I support smart, responsible growth that strengthens our economy while preserving the quality of life. Growth is inevitable, but current residents must come first. Our roads, infrastructure, public services, and community character should keep pace with development, so growth benefits everyone.
One of my top priorities is advocating for a three-to-five-year pause on property revaluations. Many homeowners face increasing financial pressures and uncertainty. Before moving forward with additional reassessments, we need time to evaluate their impact and determine what is truly best for Malta residents. Taxpayers deserve fairness, stability, and transparency.
Public safety is another critical priority. I strongly support restoring the Sheriff’s contract to ensure residents, families, and local businesses receive the protection they deserve. With more than 6,750 calls made by Malta residents to the Sheriff’s Department last year, the need for visible patrols and reliable service is clear. Public safety should never be considered optional. It is a core responsibility of local government and an investment in every resident’s quality of life.
As your Town Supervisor, I will listen, lead with transparency, and make decisions based on what is best for our residents, not special interests. Together, we can protect taxpayers, strengthen public safety, preserve our community, and ensure future growth benefits all.
I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3rd and the opportunity to serve as your next Malta Town Supervisor.
Timothy Moseman
