Glenville Woman Pleads Guilty in Vehicular Manslaughter

A Glenville woman who killed a coworker at Bentley’s tavern in Malta has plead guilty to felony 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter and felony tampering with evidence. 

Morgan Lange, 34, plead guilty on July 27 charges that stemmed from a September 2025 incident in which Lange ran over a coworker, pinning him under a vehicle. 

The coworker, identified as Joshua Soden, 29 of Saratoga Springs, was extricated from under the vehicle by the Malta Ridge Fire Department but died 12 days later at Albany Medical Center, resulting in the vehicular manslaughter charge. 

At the time of the incident, Lange reportedly had a blood alcohol content of .12%, well above the legal limit of .08% and was accused of removing an open container, resulting in the tampering charge. 

Lange faces a max sentence of 11 years in prison — seven for manslaughter and four for tampering with evidence. In a statement, Saratoga County District Attorney said he didn’t extend a plea agreement as he didn’t believe the sentence guidelines were adequate as well as Lange’s conduct, citing a second pending charges for lying on a DMV form to obtain a conditional drivers license.

“Everyone that I’ve spoken to in the public that has commented about Joshua has said he is the nicest young man and it’s an absolute tragedy,” said Eby. “2 ⅓ to seven for taking someone’s life when you’re drunk behind a vehicle is just an injustice. That’s why I didn’t make a plea bargain offer because I didn’t think Josh’s life represented what the sentencing parameters were.”

Lange is expected to be sentenced sometime in December.
