SARATOGA SPRINGS — In a letter penned to Saratoga Springs City Court, Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen requested the court dismiss a non-criminal disorderly conduct violation charged against Saratoga Black Lives Matter activist Lexis Figuereo.
Figuereo was charged with the violation at the conclusion of the racing season in September, along with a handful of other protesters similarly charged, accused of obstructing traffic during a protest that took place in Saratoga Springs in July.
Figuereo was additionally charged with two misdemeanor counts of obstructing governmental in connection with his alleged disruption of Saratoga Springs City Council meetings on July 6 and July 20. Those two charges were dismissed earlier this month.
The April 22 letter by District Attorney Heggen concludes: “My office has determined that the continued prosecution of this disorderly conduct charge does not serve the interest of justice and by this letter we are requesting that the courts dismiss that charge in the interest of justice.”
