SARATOGA SPRINGS — John Joseph Duggan died on Saturday September 6 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his family.
John was born on October 10, 1930 in Boston. The son of the late Robert and Marie (Dunlea) Duggan, he was one of 13 children.
John graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, New Hampshire .He was a Crew Chief in the U.S. Air Force from July 1948 to January 1952. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean conflict, he returned home to attend college and graduated from New England College with a degree in business administration.
While at New England College he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Beta Fraternity, Captain of the Lacrosse and Soccer teams. John was a prominent business owner of office systems/products for over 30 years across New York State. He was a successful salesman who cared about his customers and developed long lasting relationships.
John’s greatest love and accomplishment was his family. He was proud of the fact that he was part of a large family growing up in Boston and Hillsboro, New Hampshire.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He, with his wife of 58 years, Angela (Porpiglia) Duggan, created a wonderful, close-knit family. John took pride in his family and all their accomplishments. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, softball, baseball, lacrosse and even went to gymnastics and ballet recitals.
He will be remembered for his charm, sense of humor, positive outlook on life, love and knowledge of history, Boston, the Red Sox and The New England Patriots.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angela, and his five children, Kathleen (Brendan) Moran; Diane (Jacque) Georger, Lisa (Walter) Barss; Michael P. Duggan, and Patricia (Alex) Lushkevich. He was the proud grandfather to Celina Georger (Donald) Murphy, Danielle (Aimee) Duggan, Michael (Stacey) Barss, Jacque Duggan Georger, Meghan Barss, Catherine Fraser, Alex Lushkevich, Angela Georger, Nicholas Lushkevich and great-grandfather to Ella, Lily and Johnny Murphy. He is also survived by his siblings Edward (Elizabeth) Duggan, Arthur (Louise) Duggan, Marie (Roger) Bruns, Joanne McNally, Thomas (Mercedes) Duggan, Teresa (William) Brodrick , and James (Betty) Duggan, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Calvin J. Fraser, brothers William (Alice), Robert (Mary), George (Peggy), and Laurence (Lee) Duggan and sister Alice Delaney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, September 11 at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave. and burial will follow in the family plot at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. A celebration of John’s life will then be held at 1pm at the Inn at Saratoga, Broadway.
