WILTON — Barbara L. Bergeron Burke peacefully entered in to eternal life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 with her family at her side. She was 82.
Barbara was born on December 5, 1932 in Brooklyn. She and her husband, the late Arthur L. Bergeron lived there until 1964, at which time they moved to Long Island. Barbara had a deep abiding faith along with a deep love of country. She was always ready to engage in political discourse being a proud Republican. Barbara loved her family and they will be remembered for her always saying “because two people fell in love.” She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and her love of having a glass of wine and conversation. Barbara was involved in numerous community and charity events, was a faithful parishioner, and extraordinary minister at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs.
Barbara later married the late Edgar Burke and they moved to Saratoga Springs where they managed the Saratoga Reading Rooms. She continued managing the Saratoga Reading Rooms after his death in 1994.
In addition to her parents and her husbands Arthur and Edgar, Barbara was predeceased by her infant sons, Arthur and Raymond and a daughter Diane.
Barbara is survived by five daughters, Deborah Bergeron, Denise Bergeron Parmon and husband David, Doreen Bergeron Bordes and husband Michael, Dorothea Bergeron Rubbone and husband Robert, Donna Bergeron Phinney and husband David; one son Gerard Bergeron and wife Susan; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends remembered her on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in St. Clement’s Church in Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated immediately thereafter.
Burial was in the family plot at Queens of All Saints Cemetery, Central Islip, NY.
Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373).
The family wishes to thank Barbara’s caregivers; Heather, Grace, Shawna, Suzanne, June, Sally, and Denise for their compassion and gentle care during Barbara final days. The family would also like to thank Saratoga Community Hospice, and Dr. Farrell.
