Julia C. "Judy" Hyland McKeown
TROY — Julia C. "Judy" Hyland McKeown, 88, of Sausse Avenue and summer resident of Hedges Lake, peacefully entered into eternal life in the loving comfort and care of her family on Sunday, June 12, 2016.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Margaret M. Thompson Hyland. Judy was a graduate of St. Paul the Apostle School and Catholic Central High School, both in Troy and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in Albany. Judy was the beloved wife of 51 years of James (Jim) McKeown, until his passing on July 28, 2005.
Mrs. McKeown was a Registered Nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, and a Charge Nurse at Eden Park Nursing Home, both in Troy. Judy and her family have summered for generations at Hedges Lake, in Cambridge, NY, where she served as Vice President of the Hedges Lake Campers Association. She was an avid Siena Saints Basketball and RPI Engineers Hockey fan, enjoyed playing Bridge, as well as taking any chance at slot machines that she could. She was a communicant of the former St. Paul the Apostle Church in Beman Park, where she was a member of the Mothers’ Club.
Devoted mother of Patrick J. (Jean) McKeown of Latham, Jack "Jick" McKeown of Troy, Margaret Mary McKeown of Moreau and Kathleen (David) Barringer of Saratoga; cherished grandmother of Kelly and Kacie McKeown, and Reilley, Eddy and Jake Barringer. Judy was predeceased by her sister Jean (David) Kline and her brother Jack (Anne) Hyland. Aunt Jude is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Many special thanks and gratitude to the loving nurses and staff on the 5th floor at Samaritan Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion for Judy.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 8:45 a.m. from the Morris-Stebbins-Miner and Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St. in Troy; thence to St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd. in Latham, where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Francis J. Dubois, Retired Pastor.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Interment will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judy's memory may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1365 Enfield Street, Enfield, CT 06082-4925.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Morris-Stebbins-Miner and Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St. in Troy.
